Last weeks episode of Louisiana Law they were writing tickets for not wearing the kill switch lanyard. I googled what the law was while watching and learned it became a Federal law in 2021.

Seven states already have similar laws, including Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey and Texas. Forty-four states have the same kinds of regulations for personal watercraft.

It’s so easy to do. Clip it to your life jacket and put your life jacket on every time you’re moving with the big motor.

yep, its like seat belts, after a few years writting tickets people started hooking up from habit and it became a normal thing you do.

i think most of us grew up never wearing them and still dont but they are out there stopping and writing tickets for it. saw a few boaters out there think they were 1-00% good and legal until green jeans asked why they werent wearing the kill switch as he wrote up the ticket. they almost got me a few times already but i was lucky to see others getting checked so i quickly hooked up
