Well then the only solution is to bow in the direction of the side that successfully protests everything. I guess it only matters what that side thinks in regards to preventing the Republic from tearing itself apart.

Roberts is completely disconnected from the actual perception/reality of his judgements. He believes he's maintaining so peaceful status quo but the only thing he's doing is reacting to activist outrage.

Just to be clear, this was speculation.
But even if this speculation is correct, I don't agree that it justifies him making a decision to please the mob.

The thing that pissed me off with him on Obamacare, and his Flip -flopping was that he knew the “ mandates “ were unconstitutional, and knew they sold it to the people as “ Not a tax”. But Roberts basically led the lawyers into arguing it as a tax, after everyone, including Obama, argued it wasn’t a tax. Roberts flipped as it is Constitutional as a “Tax”, which was NEVER argued when it was voted on by Congress, even with Congress stripping another bill, and inserting Obamacare into it. Whole thing is pure crap from top to bottom, and that’s not even arguing the benefits of the bill…..why Congress has such a low rating, pure horse crap representative body that doesn’t represent the people…..

That wouldn’t completely surprise me either. It’s hard to trust many people anymore. Principled people are harder to find every day. This could all be a set up to help galvanize their lunatic “peaceful” protesters to continue to show them that what they are doing matters. Look at BLM roots and Chaz. Their fire might burn out eventually but it burns white hot for a while. This is like building an army for the left.

There really isn't sht he can do.
Being Chief Justice means he has first choice to write majority opinions (if he's in the majority) or dissents (if in minority). He also gets to preside over impeachment trials.
That's really it. Other than that and a few other minor perks, he's one vote like any other justice.
