Golden Era in LSU Sports??

Scott Woodward has proven himself to hire great coaches. In his short stint here, I believe he’s set LSU athletics up for major success.
-Brian Kelly
—> total turnaround in terms of organization, focus, and accountability (not to mention winningest coach in Notre Dame history)
-Kim Mulkey
—> championship winning WBB coach, who by all means performed a miracle with leftover scraps (GREAT RECRUTER)
-Jay Johnson
—> shows promise with Manieri talent, just wait till his guys are in the system, phenomenal coach
-Matt McMahon
—> literally came in with zero scholarship players (now has 10, 5 in top 100), he can develop & flat out coach
-Jay Clark (gymnastics)
—> seemed to not miss a beat (personally miss DD Breaux) but shows incredible promise
Temper expectations a bit, but we may be entering into one of the greatest eras of LSU athletics.

I think the hires are great and now focus is on NIL as that may make coaches less significant.

2000-2007 will be tough to beat. Several baseball CWS appearances and a championship. Mens and womens bball made final four and had a nice run. Football went from worst to first during that time with multiple SEC championships and the first national title in 45 years and another 4 years after. Track and field with championships too.

This.
Football dominance was starting and 2 NCs;
Basketball Sweet 16 and Final 4; and
Baseball was teetering, did pretty good. Nonetheless, its baseball, so who cares

I’d say it’s 2000-2012
Football- 4 conference titles, 2 national titles
Basketball- 3 conference titles, 2 Sweet 16s, Final 4
Baseball- 5 conference titles (including SECT), 5 CWS, 2 national titles

Signing of Kevin Faulk from Carencro got the program back on track. From 1989-93 LSU football was dead. Say what you want, Dinardo getting him got the ball rolling. 6-5 and going to the Weedeater bowl was like going to the sugar bowl.

!987-1997
25 national titles
Women’s Indoor Track - 8
Women’s Outdoor Track - 11
Men’s Outdoor Track - 2
Baseball - 4
Also
Basketball had 6 appearances in the NCAA tourney though they didn't do anything.
Baseball in addition to the 4 NCs also Made the tournament every year except 1988 and had a WS appearance in 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991(NC), 1993(NC), 1994, 1996(NC), 1997(NC)
Because of the football wasteland, we don't think of this period as being good. But even football had a few bright spots. 5 Bowl games winning 4 of those (in an era when there were fewer bowl games) and tied for 1st in conference once under Archer and the tied in the west for 1st twice under Dinardo.
Before anyone has an aneurism, I'm only pointing out that cases can be made for more than one period, not really that 87-97 is the golden age. I don't think there really is an undisputed golden age for the athletic department as a whole.
But if we can somehow put together very successful runs in the big 3 sports now, we could be going into an undisputed golden age. Or we could crash and burn, only time will tell.
