The judge needs to stop them and say if you aren’t calling into account something that’s actually relevant, then don’t call someone else to the stand.
The word racist is thrown around so often now that it doesn’t even have a meaning anymore.
It’s a crutch now. It’s used when a person doesn’t even have an actual argument and is just wanting to try and scare someone or be a victim

Judge won’t do that, IMHO, simply because he wants to give SWB enough rope to hang herself.
Not like this is a jury trial. Judge makes a decision and he knows horseshite when it is in his courtroom.

If I were the Bobs, I would fire MP and put a lot of his administrative staff into the shittiest duties possible without violating their civil service protections.
Can’t fire them, gotta make them quit.

That's because we have a consolidated city/parish government. The Mayor-President is the Chief Executive Officer of both the City and Parish, and is elected by the qualified voters of the Parish.
It's a bastardized version of a consolidated government. They have separate ordinances for the City of BR and for areas outside the city as well as separate taxes. The entire structure benefits BR more than it does the rest of the parish. The only TRUE consolidated cit-parish government in LA is NOLA. Everything in Orleans Parish is also in the city limits

The Hayride Article on St George from Today.
Says that brpd is down over 100 officers than what it should have. I imagine that covers much of the budget?
MP testified on the first day of the trial that he wants ALL the vacancies filled (which is BS because every gov't agency leaves some vacancies open in case of budget cuts), yet he is using the money from some vacancies to give policemen a raise. He acknowledges that his dept. is having staffing problems in retention and recruiting of officers, but blames the George Floyd incident
He also had a study done by an independent agency to recommend measures BRPD could take to reduce costs (Disbanding the mounted patrol and the air service units, etc.), but MP has refused to implement over one third of the measures recommended which would save the city millions each year. They could easily recoup any loss of sales tax revenue that would go to SG, but refuses to do so.

The likelihood that Baton Rouge elects good leadership after this is 0.0%.
Why? St. George residents will still vote for the Mayor-President of the parish.

As ugly as it sounds to some Baton Rouge needs gentrification in the north.
NBR was primarily blue collar white people until a few decades ago. I can remember when Istrouma and Glen Oaks High Schools were overwhelmingly white.

Those areas went rough by the 90s.
The last white people hanging on there moved out or died in the early to mid 2000s, I’m sure.

I agree, but I also think the Sheriff's Office should then relinquish the property taxes collected from incorporated Baton Rouge to the city's budget.
Incorporated Baton Rouge pays a shite ton to the Sheriff's Office and receives virtually nothing in return.
This is an incredibly dishonest (or ignorant) take.
First off, EBRSO runs the parish prison which absolutely does serve the city of Baton Rouge. They are also responsible for property tax collections parish-wide.
BRPD only has jurisdiction within the Baton Rouge city limits. EBRSO has jurisdiction parish-wide. Yes, they primarily service the unincorporated areas of the parish like virtually every other sheriff’s office in an area where the entire jurisdiction is not served by municipal police departments.
So to recap, BR residents’ taxes help fund EBRSO, which does provide actual services for BR and does have jurisdiction in the city of BR but primarily patrols/responds in the unincorporated areas. Meanwhile, St. George residents’ taxes help fund BRPD, which doesn’t provide any services for St. George and has no legal jurisdiction in St. George. And you’re acting like those two things are equivalent. They aren’t.

St George fire chief testified yesterday that the boundaries of the proposed new city were not a concern for firefighters. The defense is scheduled to call it’s final witnesses today, then both sides will give closing arguments. Not going link to the advocate article.

Lol
Since their CEO became the moral authority of EBR Parish.

after St. George's creation was approved by voters, the city-parish asked all department heads to prepare two budgets: a standstill budget and one contemplating a 20% budget cut
Exposing exactly why BR will scratch and claw to keep the St. George area, and it’s the same reason a tick will fight to stay on a dog.

It's funny how someone shows their ignorance by posting something like that. I bet you think all the Sheriffs Office does is law enforcement huh? lol

I would imagine the media going silent on this means it’s not going in favor of Broome.

Yes they are. If they aren't then they aren't incorporated as a city but as a town or something else. But if you are a city in virginia, you have your own government.
