The whole reason they went through all of this work to incorporate a city is to get a school district!
Everyone keeps forgetting this. The Mayor President fricked around and now she is finding out. They just wanted a school district and Broome said NO. Quite reasonably, they are tired of paying out the arse to fund crap schools in the city and paying for their kids to go to private schools on top of that. The Mayor pitched a fit and this is what she got. I would guarantee she would take the original offer if given the chance. Too bad for her.

Do you even know how this entire SG this thing came about? It doesn't appear so.

Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul testified that, after St. George's creation was approved by voters, the city-parish asked all department heads to prepare two budgets: a standstill budget and one contemplating a 20% budget cut. Such a cut, he said, would have a "significantly detrimental impact" on the police department's ability to do its job and would force layoffs.
he wants people to pay for a service that they do not receive

It is funny all these years.
BR annexed the business off Florida Blvd going toward Stevendale.
They left the neighborhoods out.
Yeah, this is not racist either especially now these areas are majority black.
Here a clue the City of BR does not want to provide services to these areas. Their attitude let this sleeping dog lie while collecting their tax revenue for City Services.
FYI, the BRFD fire station on Old Hammond near Millerville is outside the City Limits according to their maps. If there is an accident infront of this place Eastside fire dept would have to show up.
They City of BR did not annex Gardere, but they annexed a Casino into the city. Oooh, no libs please explain how this is not racist. I guess the City of BR is also racist. Let’s play the game.
Notice how the power players in BR such as Chris Landry represents developers. The owner of H&E is a developer.
The metro council went against the council person Dwight Hudson’s recommendation to not build a subdivision off Hoo Shoo Too Road.
Guess what they do not care about BR. They care about making money developing areas that might not be good ideas to develop due to flooding. These people do not want to lose the luxury of the rubber stamp metro council they deal with now.
Let’s call it what it is.
BR, will get their liberal army Together BR to come out when they want something done for them.
Then the City does the same exact thing, not even a peep out of the token liberals. This shows you together BR is a fraud.

There is a fricking problem in Baton Rouge.
The problem in Baton Rouge is that no one tries to improve their own neighborhood. Too many just leave for greener pastures.
St George is trying to improve their area. Good for them.
And shame on Broom for being against this. The people voted. Their will should not be ignored. No re-dos for this election.

That being said, it will be fun to sit back and watch it all burn.
And when it all burns where you think will be next (already happening actually). You think Airline hwy will stop the criminals and rif raf?? No it won’t and a second after the city is formed your government will sell you out to the highest bidder (federal government) and apartments and low income housing will pop up everywhere. Ask Central and Zachary. Please think before you speak from now on.

Gee, what a shocker that hundreds of black people who said they didn't want to be a part of St George we're excluded per their request.
99.9% of the property owned in Gardere aren’t owned by the residents. They OWNERS didn’t want to be apart of St George and pay higher taxes. You thinking the BLACK people didn’t want to be included sums up the entire St George movement

Yeah St George’s area doesn’t have ANY of this……I take it you’ve never been down Seigen lane.

You mean they also did not want to be apart of the City of BR either.
The casino down the street and notice how they were not annexed into the City of Baton Rooooouge.
That is racist!!!

Watch your mouth
Go look at the second post in this thread, I said it was going to be bad for Baton Rouge. There is no wall, you can’t keep the areas separated and when one area burns it will leak over and destroy everything. But at the same time everything is already headed down the drain anyway. It’s a lose lose situation. At least SG will go down swinging.

Exactly, This statement should be the only piece of evidence needed to prove that this clown got her position because of the sole reason of the color of her skin and not some type of experience or qualifications. She is an idiot and I 100% believe that she would fix the problem of overworked LEOs and lack of new recruits because of lack of city support for said LOE's once they are on the job by laying of MORE LEOs.
St. George or no St. George the greater Baton Rouge area gets what it deserves for not having the balls to throw these bums out on their ignorant butts for their racial political games and incompetence.
Period.

The most egregious example is the City annexing Siegen Lane, Mall of LA and the Casino but then having EBRSO patrol those same areas. What a load of crap.
This has everything to do with mileages and taxes. Certain ones ran through different years and it was agreed to let those run out before taking over services. Therefore the STGFD and EBRSO could keep receiving those funds while all this was all worked out. So actually it’s not EGREGIOUS at all but of course facts and laws aren’t really routine for St George fantasyland supporters.

Owners don’t vote where their property is if they don’t live there. Renters DO vote where they rent, so every single blacks person in Gardere did vote or had the opportunity to vote. Do you think renters can’t vote?
If I own a house in Florida but live in Baton Rouge, I don’t get to vote in Florida.
If I rent a house in District 1, I live in district 1 and I vote in district 1.
Every single person living in Gardere votes in Gardere.

Now explain the part where people living in St George paying for BRPD to patrol in the city is fair. Which part of fantasyland is that?
You have EBRSO working areas that the city annexed while at the same time having residents outside the city paying for BRPD to work inside the city proper. Fantasy my arse. That's facts. Better hurry up and call me racist since that's the opponents fall back position.

This is fascinating to watch from a distance. Birmingham did this a long time ago. There has been a push for a ‘metro gov’t’ several times claiming we needed it to get big things here. Voters said frick that.
What’s the legal challenge here? There has to be something other than ‘we don’t want y’all to leave’?

Yes, a lot of people thought it was for new schools. Because that’s what they were told in the beginning, and even tho the organizers knew schools were NOT going to happen, they kept pushing new schools to sell the vote.

The most "legal" argument is that there is a requirement of a plan and the incorporators didn't create a legally-sufficient one.
Then there are less "legal" and more "systemic" arguments, like alleging this is racist (trying to throw a hail mary on certain due process-related prayers).
Then there are literal "pound the desk" bullshite that can't even be considered arguments, like the "this will affect the city of Baton Rouge's budget!" that has no real legal merit.
This is after they rigged the system with the previous attempt, by randomly throwing out signatures in numbers JUUUST enough to dismiss the petition. This delayed the movement just long enough so that the city could incorporate major tax-generating areas.
This is dirty, terrible, and downright evil by the EBR-BR government leaders.
