Nothing excites me more than having uninformed people show up at a meeting to bitch about stuff.

Eits said lots of traffic on the current bridge near Port Allen, especially 18-wheelers, is trying to get to I-12 on the way east and those drivers want to avoid New Orleans. "I don't know that is our big problem," she said, meaning making it easier for motorists to get to eastbound I-10.

Dammit, Judy. Don’t be such a count. The old bridge will be there for that purpose, and it will have less traffic on it.

Whatever location they choose will upset some NIMBY prick.

Got to upset someone here and make a decision. Build the bridge.

Judy is right. Most of the truck traffic is not going to New Orleans.

Oh well why don’t you inform us Mr. smarty pants

It’s unusual for someone to be upset over something like this so why don’t you tell us how you are involved.

I don’t think people are out of line to be upset over this with Louisiana’s history of corruption, inefficiency, and poorly executed plans.

Judy won’t even be alive by the time the bridge is built.

Just build it straight through Spanish Lake to impact less people.

Bluebonnet is already a clusterfrick in the afternoons. If they use that as an approach to the bridge they better beef it up big time.

U-club people can’t even get out of their neighborhood in the morning without having a cop block traffic to let them out. They think they have stroke, but they don’t even have enough stroke to get a red light put up.

Building a road that exits I-10 just east of Grosse Tete connecting to a bridge by Dow and putting a road through Spanish Lake to Bluff Rd. is what needs to happen. A lot of the proposals have bridge traffic going to LA-30, but for that to happen LA-30 would have to be completely redone from LSU to Gonzales and I have no idea how’d they’d propose to fix the mess around I-10 in Gonzales.

That’s false. A large number of the people going there are very informed. The newspapers always pick idiots to interview, or idiots are the only ones that agree to interviews

And the current projections have Bluebonnet getting an additional 24k vehicles per day if that bridge is added and connected to bluebonnet. Bluebonnet can’t sustain anywhere near that. As it is bluebonnet gets heavy traffic congestion just a couple miles from where the bridge would connect

What seems to be missing from all of these proposals is a large reduction in pass through traffic traveling through Baton Rouge.

None of these options will eliminate the freight trucks traveling cross country on I-10/12.

None of these options will provide a true bypass.

Yes, there will be a way to move people across the river who commute daily, but is that really why we are building a third bridge in the BR metro area?

Where is the linkage to the interstate? We will regret this choice almost like every other decision made regarding interstate paths in our area.

I agree with Judy on the point that some of the more southerly routes wont get traffic off the I-10 bridge.

JMHO, but I always have figured that one of the Plaquemine routes could be done fairly well and tied into I-10 at Grosse Tete. The problem for a new bridge is the East side connection. It will have to connect to something worthy enough to handle the volume coming and going.

Judy is an ignorant slut.

The I-10 bridge bottleneck is caused by people trying to get from LA-1 to the east side of the river. Many of them to Ascension Parish because of the population boom there. Build a bridge around Plaquemine and you take a TON of traffic off the I-10 bridge.

Tying the Newer Bridge into Bluebonnet would be a mistake of greater Epic proportion than the Washington St. exit.

Wherever the Newer Bridge goes someone will be put out ,this is why BR has never gotten a Loop.

Bullfrog and T are correct in their proposals. Once the elevated section across Spanish Lake ties in with I-10 a new route from I-10 along the intersection of LA928/427 should be built to intersect I-12 just east of Walker. This would give BR a southern loop.

Locating the bridge at Bluebonnet would gridlock traffic not just on Bluebonnet, but in all of south Baton Rouge. I realize this is a regional project and not just a Baton Rouge project, but improving traffic in Baton Rouge is in fact one of the goals of this bridge. Locating the bridge at Bluebonnet would significantly worsen traffic for a large portion of Baton Rouge, and therefore it should not be an option.

i moved to baton rouge 22 years ago from texas( don't ask me why i did this i dont have a good reason). I have heard about the need for a loop and a bridge since i moved here. It's LOL that baton rouge doesnt have a loop. It doesnt have a loop because livingston parish and ascension parish shot down proposed loop ideas that came thru thier parishes. I remember the reasonings being very stupid. now all these years later we are still at the same point.
