Question for you O&G folks…
Can someone politely explain why last year at this time regular was $2.09/gallon and diesel $2.19/gallon (pricing difference of @5%)

While currently looking at reg $3.99/gallon and diesel $4.87/gallon (which works out to @ 25% difference)

Inquiring minds would like a logical explanation of the current hammering my wallet is taking with regards to the price hike percentage difference

TIA

I'm assuming Musk buying twitter is why gas went up 20 cents/gal today.

It take less refining to make diesel so the state has to make up for it in more taxes.

Trump was artificially keeping prices low at the expense of American businesses to keep his poll numbers high using tariffs and lining is buddy’s pockets. Thankfully him and his fascist administration are gone. Biden is building back better putting America first. He even released some of our strategic reserve to help Americans with the high prices. Now Elon wants to undo all this good by letting Trump and his radical followers back on Twitter and back into the media. Keep that toxic evil out of our country.

A few extra dollars at the pump isn’t a big deal. Those whining about it are just greedy or don’t understand. It helps American businesses and it helps American workers. If we can get the green energy legislation passed it won’t matter anyway because we’ll get off of our pathetic reliance on ancient methods like fossil fuel

I don't get why diesel cost more when it's easier to produce

Gasoline is blended with ethanol, which is cheaper.

We're getting screwed. That is it in a nutshell.

There is no logical explanation for the BS.

Edited to add that there is no explanation for the ultra low sulfur diesel other than to upset the apple cart and appease the green crowd.

People will literally die in the streets if diesel prices go below $3 again.

The interesting thing, and I haven’t actually looked in awhile, is that diesel used to be cheaper in Europe because it burns cleaner ( I was told) so they had it for less? As in, you’d think the greenies would prefer it?
