It’s been too long since this team has reached OKC and that should be the expectation given the facilities and budget Beth has been given
Where does LSU rank nationally in facilities and budget?
I doubt it is at the top.

If you can rail on this team when they are down, then go ghost when they come back and pull off a win, it looks clownish.

Zero clue about budget but LSU certainly has one of the top facilities in the country in softball easily, between Tiger Park and the indoor performance center. No question facilities for softball are top 5.
But its not like that changes anything, LSU gets top 10 recruiting classes every year so they always get great talent.

Exactly I was at the game today in Athens (I live here) and that team showed grit winning a series in Athens against a higher ranked team.
Come back from 5-0 with a Grandslam and a grinding out win putting up 4 in extra innings to win 9-5.
Geaux Tigers. Was a bunch of us out there cheering on LSU.

I've always wanted to ask this, because honestly I haven't seen a softball park yet that LSU should be envious of.

If Beth does her normal postseason—host and win a Regional then lose a Super on the road—she’s safe, for two reasons: 1) The hitting has improved, so Dobson gets another chance and 2) Woodward has a lot on his plate and probably won’t turn his full attention to softball this postseason.
This is a bad take.
What exactly does Woodward have on his plate that’s too much? If softball was failing a move would be made. The fact of the matter is that softball isn’t failing, they are a perennial super regional participant. What other sport on campus can boast about being in the top 16 in every season since since 2015?
This year’s team has one senior on the roster - Sunseri. There’s quite a lot to like about this team and the future.

That scenario has played out exactly twice in 9 postseasons under Torina, not exactly her “normal” postseason. They have made the Supers 6 straight postseasons and 7 of 9 times under Torina. Of those 7 Supers, she has won 4 of them to reach the WCWS. This is for a program with 2 WCWS berths and 3 Supers prior to her arriving.
No, she has not taken them to the level of UCLA, Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, Arizona or Washington, but Florida St is the only recent program to crash that party. The only other programs with more than one WCWS appearance since LSU last appeared are Oklahoma St and Georgia. It’s not like there’s some long list of up and coming programs that are leaving LSU behind. LSU is one of the top 8-10 programs in the country, even during the three season WCWS drought. I’m not sure what more you think LSU has any right to expect.

It was a great win today ; came from behind and had clutch hitting .
Pitching except for Kilponen and maybe Chaffin ,in the future ,is suspect.
I cannot understand how a highly regarded pitching coach who is a head coach has not been able to develop a few of the other pitchers in the team. What has happened to Sunseri , her decline, is difficult for me to understand.
I think that with Beth Torina and her present coaching staff we can only expect what we have been getting over all these years. If that is enough for you as a fan , you will be happy.
If you want to have an LSU team that plays in the top two-three and competes (and maybe wins) for the National Championship , you will not be happy with these coaches…

If Woodward could go out today and hire away the coach at Florida St, I’d be all for it. Absent that, the lack of a national championship is more a product of the limitations of the program than of the coach. The sport is dominated by a handful of power programs in recruiting hotbeds (plus Oklahoma having the advantage of proximity to OKC.) If LSU were to go out wildly chasing national titles, they would be more likely to run the program into the ground than to actually win one. Just look at what has become of major football programs like Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas, Miami, etc.

I love softball. But I am somewhat always surprised by seeing where so many of the players come from. Not many from Louisiana. I don't care that much as long as we can win,but surprised most are from out of state. Any comments about that.

Sorry, but Louisiana is not a hotbed for talent. Teams and competition in California, Texas, Arizona and Florida are just Better. All you have to do it look at the power brackets in the big tournaments for fast pitch. Look at who does well in those tournaments….rarely, if at all you will see a Louisiana team do well. I’m not saying there aren’t great players from Louisiana, just that the best talent comes from California and Texas, that’s where the solid majority of the top tier comp teams are.
Also, Louisiana just doesn’t have the population that a California, Texas or Florida do.

I have to agree with you. Texas and California are very popular

There are, I believe seven players from Louisiana on the LSU team currently, all of them are very good players, obviously. But, Beth wants to win and play the players that she believes give her the best shot at winning. Now, look at the Louisiana players currently on the LSU team and see how much they play or how well they have done in games compared to other players.
LSU is a big draw to players throughout the country, it’s a great school and a fantastic sports college to be able to go to. LSU is going to draw many of the best of the best from all over the country. I’m sure if there is must have players in Louisiana, LSU would surely know about them.
Also, look at the other top softball schools and where the players come from on those teams. California and Texas are all over EVERY top softball program. Florida, Arizona and Georgia are also very strong states with tons of talent

Bergeron will be a starter from day one next season. Next to Pleasants, the girl from tiny Rayne, La. will be the team's next player and lift the offense from the abyss.

Conference play offensive ranks:
BA - #2
Slugging - #5
OBP - #2
Runs - Tied for #2
Hits - #4
RBIs- #4
Doubles - #1
HRs- #7
Walks - #1
Ks - #11
So HRs only category where we're even middle of the pack.

Exactly right. Offense has not been the issue. It’s the lack of pitching depth beyond Kilponen and even she is only a middle of the road #1 starter. Sunseri and Wickersham pitched lights out in the 2020 season before it got shut down and were a solid 1-2 tandem in 2019. Their regression since then has really set the program back. If they had developed as expected, this team would be right in the title hunt. Hopefully at least one of the 3 stud pitching prospects coming in next year and/or Chaffin are ready to take on the #2 role. There is real promise for next season if they can.

Pitching numbers are up across the SEC this year. Look at The numbers Fouts has. (3.23 era in sec play). It seems as though the strike zone in most games has shrunk this year causing very high score totals in games.
Most would say Fouts is the best pitcher in the SEC easily. After Fouts Delce and Penta are both having solid years. After those two I would put four pitchers in the next group in no particular order Kilfoyl, Hightower, Kilponen and Haff. Herzog and Spangler would be after that group.

If you like being competitive but never getting over the hump then Beth Torina is your gal.
She's so good at it.
