As much as everyone bitches about his wife, it is extremely refreshing to see a guy go all out investing in the community he plays in.

If this bothers you, your real criticism should be directed at people caring so much about sports. Because that’s the real reason why top pro athletes make so much.

Can you imagine how his wife will act once she can say that her husband is a billionaire?

While his wife is batshit, I guess it's better to get defeated by the pussy that knew you poor than the pussy that only knows your wallet.

Well right off the bat he isn't making $50 mil a year.

37% of 50 mil is his take home of $50 minus $18 million a year and that's just Federal.

His next contract will more than make up for it, but calling his current deal “503 million” is disingenuous at best

quote:

Mahomes' contract features $141.428 million in guarantees over 12 years, including a $63.082 million signing bonus. That $63.082 million includes Mahomes' signing bonus, his base salary for the next three years and his 2021 and 2022 roster bonuses. Which means Mahomes' contract essentially will be a year-to-year deal starting in 2023.

After the 2025 season, Mahomes can be cut with no dead cap penalty.

There’s a huge gap there between the end of contract earnings and $1B. Tom Brady has more net worth right now, not including Gisele, and I could see Tom out earning Mahomes to $1B with post career earnings

graphics like this are the only reason they put out these big contracts that will never get played out. Too bad he couldn't keep Tyreek Hill after that 500M contract.

quote:

He might very well make more than $500 million over the next 12 years, but the chances that the two sides choose to ride this deal all the way out to 2031 are low. The structure of the deal, the history of quarterback contracts and the recent path of the salary cap all suggest that the Chiefs and their star aren't likely to see the final few years of this contract under the current terms. A lot of NFL deals -- especially deals that approach or reset the top of their respective markets -- have team options tacked onto the end to raise their value or produce impressive round numbers in the media.
