The latest data on opioid-related overdose deaths in the US has produced a startling detail: Opioid overdose deaths in adolescents rose far more rapidly than the general population between 2019 and 2021, according to a new analysis of mortality data released by the CDC.
Data showed that deaths from opioid overdoses in teens aged 14 to 18 increased by a staggering 94% between 2019 and 2020 and by an additional 20% between 2020 and 2021.
Per the data, the biggest driver of the deaths was the fentanyl in the drug supply. The synthetic opioid that's 80x - 100x more powerful than morphine has been linked to 77% of all adolescent opioid overdose deaths since 2021. During the timespan examined by the study, adolescent opioid deaths increased by a staggering 350%.
The number of forensic drug reports testing positive for fentanyl has skyrocketed in recent years from under 20,000 in 2015 to 117,045 in 2020. A recent study from the National Institutes of Health found that the number of individual fentanyl pills seized by law enforcement increased nearly 50x from the first quarter of 2018 to the last quarter of 2021.

It’s easy to say it’s people’s own fault, but from what i’ve seen, people don’t even know they are ingesting the fatal dose. Kids have bought weed from other kids for years and it was assumed to be safe. I had one mom tell me her son took one toke and was dead within minutes. I remember my friends buying ecstasy tabs and acid, too, back in the day. The worst unexpected surprise was that it was fake, as in did nothing. Not that it would kill you in minutes. This shite doesn’t make sense. Why sell something even stronger than what the buyer wants? It makes me seriously wonder if death is the goal.

It’s counterfeit Xanax Hydros Oxy. People think they are buying pharmaceuticals and they aren’t. Thank the USA for that since they cracked down on prescribing habits of Doctors. You didn’t see these deaths prior to 2008 we were only seeing 25-28k in opioid related deaths. Now we are over 120k

My wife's nephew just got taken by fentanyl (we suspect) Saturday night. Kid had to have brain surgery when he was 2, never fully recovered his motor skills, eventually closed off the world as a teen and never gave it a chance.

Yes they are lacing weed along with every other illegal drug with fentanyl. It seems dealers are trying to make their drugs cheaper, more potent and desirable.
You can mix any schitt in for volume and add some fentanyl for effect. Problem is not being measured with lethal dose in mind.
Fake oxy made with Fentanyl sells for a larger profit than sourcing real oxy and the customer base is always there. Difference is it can and is continuing to be lethal.

I heard on the radio the other day the life expectancy in the US has actually dropped the last two years in a row. And one of the main drivers in this drop is the absolute explosion in young deaths as a result of drug overdose.

A friend of mine works at the EBR coroner's office and said yes, they are indeed getting some fentanyl deaths from people who thought they were only smoking weed. No other drugs in their system, no reports of other drug usage, no other drugs or paraphernalia around when they die. Just marijuana. He said he wouldn't have believed it if he wasn't seeing it with his own eyes.
Whether it's because of accidental contamination or being laced intentionally is unknown I think, and it's a small number of their total fentanyl deaths. Like less than 10 out of the hundreds in EBR the last couple years. But 100% fact it's happening.
