3.50 a shot.
The industrial military complex will never allow America to use this.

How high does that thing go before it's no longer effective?
Will we be shooting down aliens in my lifetime is a better question!

Old news. Inflation has pushed it up to 4.50 a shot already.

The directed energy based laser is not the issue. That's actually relatively easy to create. It's the tracking algorithms and data used to direct the energy to a single point, accurate tracking speed and amount of mass to impact, plus being able to move that laser at 180° as it tracks at speeds of up to one second across the entire arc, creating G forces of up to 8G on the mass of the optical systems. This is very difficult and required extensive new technologies in optics design to maintain the 99.99% accuracy of the optics.
Nah some dude on Twitter told me The Bidens have been working on this with the Ukrainians.

So your saying that 4.50 is the new 3.50?
Just another thing for Potato to blame on Putin.

The US war machine will not allow this.

Shoot down chinas satellites and we got something

Actually, I remember several years ago reading that we already have this tech mounted in AWACS-type aircraft. If I remember correctly, the tricky thing is to hold it on a dead spot on a hypersonic missle long enough for it to melt through the housing and destroy the warhead. They weren’t aiming at taking out the missle, just shanking the warhead. And you’ve gotta fly close to the missle path, so, there is literally milliseconds for it to work… and if it blows, so do you.

The US leads the world in developing laser technology. Every major country is trying to develop this tech. Israel is right up there too. I watched a video on this topic a week or 2 ago. It’s actually pretty cool. The US is looking to put lasers on everything in the future. Tanks, ships even aircraft. They want to have a laser pod attached to the sixth generation fighter jets that are in development.
Lasers do have a drawback right now. They need time to focus on the targets they are shooting at and lasers do not always have that time. Lasers and directed energy weapons as I think they are called also have trouble with hypersonic missiles. Lasers want to focus at the nose of a missile to take it out. Well the faster a missile travels it build up heat and gets real hot at the nose naturally and the more heat is at the nose of something the harder it is for lasers to focus on and track the target. That’s a pretty basic breakdown of how it works. I have forgot and left out some info. A ton of videos exist online explaining this tech and it’s very interesting. We have a long way to go yet to have Star Wars laser rifles and light sabers but we are closer than what I thought before I watched that video. It’s going to be pretty cool tech once it gets worked out.
