Do you also get angry at golfers that dress up like they're on the PGA tour?

Most people that complain about cyclists have wasted more time reaching over their gut to tie their shoes than cyclists will cause them to waste in 10 lifetimes.

Louisiana is the cycling mecca based on how many OT threads are started about cyclists

I don't care about any of this, especially if it helps the flow of traffic.

It would improve the flow of traffic if vehicles were allowed to run red lights and stop signs if “safe” to do so.

Yet…. I’m still required to stop and wait for 3 minutes at 3am despite being the only car on the road.

I see people in cars do it all the time.

Sucker.

I used to ride a bicycle 20-40 miles for work every weekday, but it wasn't until I started riding a motorcycle that I really realized how fricking stupid your average car driver is.

I'm with you as far as bicycles impeding traffic, but all the other stuff you're complaining about just looks like jealousy.

I see hood rats do it all the time in NBR. Doesn’t make it legal.

Yeah…. Car drivers are fricking idiots, which makes the people that decide to share the road with these idiots in their thousands of pounds of speeding metal while peddling their 10 pound bike….. what, exactly?

Smart?

Seems to me the smart move would be to avoid the “idiots” that are driving much heavier, much faster vehicles…. But hey… I’m just an “idiot” in a cage.

Damn fricking right it is. I wish I could ignore the rules of the road whenever I wanted with impunity.

It was fun cursing at one of those nerds riding in the middle of the road and completely avoiding the bike lane that runs alongside that very road.

Did you have 2 separate jobs? What's with the variation in distances? And I have also been a cyclist and owned motorcycles and you are 100% correct that a lot of drivers are absolute morons, careless and reckless, and act like if you're on 2 wheels that you're invisible to them.

Bicycles running stop signs and red lights isn't legal either.

That's why bicycles are running stop signs and red lights, to get away from cars. It's also why I'll jump up on the sidewalk, or turn the wrong way down a one-way street.

One thing I've noticed about a lot of these bicycle threads is people assuming that all cyclists are just out for a joy ride. That's not always the case. A LOT of people ride bicycles for transportation purposes.

You can...

Ride a bike.

Where do y'all live where these bikes are riding in the middle of the road? There is a huge cycling community where I live and they all stay as far over to the right as possible. I can't recall ever getting stuck behind one, although it's true that cyclists run stop signs on the regular. I tell you what, though, once, when I was out for a ride, I had to stop a red light and when it turned green the guy behind me started honking at me bc I wasn't moving fast enough. It turned out to be my father

And yet, 90% of them do it. Whereas the percentage of vehicles that do it is single digit percentage.

Bicyclist passes 10 cars waiting at a red light. Light turns green. That cyclist is now getting passed up (again) by those 10 cars.

Instead of having 1 interaction with each vehicle, being the vehicles original pass, they now increase their interaction count to 3. The original pass. The red light. Then being passed again.

How is this getting away from the vehicles? You’re ensuring more passes by the vehicles… meaning you are just increasing the likelihood of being hit.

It makes far more sense, safety wise, for the cyclist to wait in line and then continue once green. Ensuring that each car is passing them one time, rather than several times depending on how many red lights or stop signs they encounter.

Bragging about the rate that cyclist break traffic laws surely isn’t the way to make people respect cyclist more.

Not exactly, it was a 7.5 mile ride to work (so that's 15 miles, minimum), sometimes I had a lot of riding to do for work, sometimes not. And them sometimes I would have to ride from work downtown out to UNO for class. This was all on a one-speed Schwinn Cruiser.

But I also didn't have a car at the time.

Speaking of douchebags rolling coal, whatever happened with that dipshit kid in Texas who hit all those cyclists while he was failing to roll coal on them? His parents lose their house and retirement yet?

Welcome to the good side.

And it’s not that I have anything against bikes or cyclists I general. Only the ones that obstruct traffic.

Motorcycles are the absolute worst, at least the crotch rocket type drivers. No regard for any traffic laws at all

I don't remember what the ride is called but in BR they ride on Friday nights and seriously act like they own the road. Hundreds of them riding and one will get to an intersection and stop vehicles...this will make you want to run them over
