I'm sure there are some experts on the topic on here.

Not long ago there was a lot of talk that gas would go up to 6, 8, even 10 dollars a gallon.

Now it seems to have levelled below 4 dollars a gallon at the stations I use and pass by.

So, is it truly levelling or just a pause? And what has stopped the rise, at least for now?

For now

Some other "crisis" will occur to spike prices.

Then democrats can further push "green" initiatives.

It’s because so many people bought $60,000 electric cars!

So when gas prices go up, it's the dunce that's in the oval office that's to blame. Who is responsible when they go down? Was it some awesome republican? Which one?

Gas was at record prices when oil was still $50/barrel off of its record highs. There was some profiteering going on and they were bound to drop back down sooner than later when oil prices didn't follow through to record highs. Gas probably should drop some more if we get in line with the historic oil to gas price ratio.

I think more or less that market is equilibrating. Prices raised. Demand declined. Inflation was (finally) acknowledged. There’s not a push to inject the economy with any more stimulus money. Prices are forced to decline to equilibrate with demand.

So, thank economic gods for the lower prices, I guess.

When you do something stupid like cut off a pipeline the first day of office and screw up the permit and leases then gas begins to go up so yes it's Bidens fault. The reprieve we are seeing is, hopefully, the release from the Strategic Oil reserves.

Biden saved us by deciding to sacrifice our strategic reserves!

It's not due to that. When that does happen it won't make that much of a difference. They will release 1 million barrels per day yet we use nearly 20 million per day. That release is more fluff and feel-good BS for people that don't understand how stupid it is to dip into our reserves.

Biden released 50 million barrels of oil in November to try to lower gas prices and we see how well that worked out.

This release of 180 million barrels over 180 days will drop the reserve to its lowest level (388 million barrels) since 1984. But hey...at least it might save a few Dem seats come midterms.

Oil is still high but prices have come down some. I paid $3.56 for gas this evening in BR.

Some of that is over fear of China locking down over Covid again.

So this is lower gas prices?

We are doomed if this is what the electorate thinks.

Not talking about the gas stations themselves, bud. I'm talking the oil companies who are posting record profits. An no I'm not ignoring the 12 percent that the "guberment" is taking off the top.

We’ll see. China going back into lockdown helped taper of demand and stop the price increases. With seemingly no plans to reopen soon, we likely have at least another few weeks of price stability.
