Republicans need to introduce weed legalization.

All the Dems are going to have to run on in the mid-terms are weed and student loan forgiveness. The first is definitely going to happen regardless of who introduces it. The Republicans should go ahead and jump in front and take that arrow out of the Dems' quiver. Thoughts?

If The Right doesn't have bigger fish to fry this Fall than weed, we are well and truly fricked.
It 100% ought to be legal, but holy shite this can't possibly be a priority right now, can it?

I thought the house already passed this legislation last week?

The only thing more annoying than people that are overly anti-weed are people that are pro-weed

Guess I missed it. Still, every Republican in the Senate should support it then. It's not that we don't have bigger fish to fry, but no conservative legislation is passing this Congress anyway. The best that we can do is try to take something away from the Democrats by co-opting it for the mid-terms.

Maybe we can hire a lobby firm for a few million so they will listen to your idea OP.

That would insure that it never becomes legal because the democrats and the media would do an absolute about face, talk about how horrible and evil it is and claim they felt that way all along

I'm not anti-weed, but worrying about that as an issue relative to what's going on is ridiculous. The left would just get even more votes for "universal income" promises for all the new Taco Bell employees waiting in line at the local dispensaries.

They did. It is DOA in the Senate though, because of Republican opposition.

I don't understand this line of thinking. Passing legislation is Congress' job. Being able to work on numerous things at a time is the entire reason for the committee structure. Passing something does not mean that they cannot pass or work on something else.
Don't let Congressional leadership gaslight you with their self-imposed procedural and temporal restrictions. They can, and do, pass small legislation all the time with no impact whatsoever to "priorities". What do you think the 300+ Representatives who aren't on the prestigious committees do all of the time (when they aren't travelling on government time or engaging in debauchery with underage staffers)?

Is anybody arresting people for "weed" anywhere anymore?
It doesn't seem like it and I'm okay with that. It's just silly that anyone thinks this should be an "issue" of any sort of priority at this moment.

Republicans need to push to make these issues up to the state . Maybe republicans could even agree to help them with some federal money . Let’s push the democrats states to be the place all of the losers want to desperately live . Then the rest of the states would become red .

I agree with GeauxTiger. If this is all we have to talk about, Republicans are more worthless than I feared. Inflation, COVID, abuse of power, CRT, Brandon's incompetence, pointless war, voting rights. If Dems are going to keep all those things and legalize weed anyway, just like Repubs, why vote for the GOPe?

You put too much faith in the electorate.

If Republicans push to legalize weed, the Dems will pull an end run, vote to legalize it, and then vote to give it away free of charge!!!
No thanks

Cannabis legalization may not be a great priority to the country but it’s an issue that uninformed voters can comprehend. It may give some liberal-leaning Americans the excuse to vote red.

Then we would be a lot better off if they didn't do their job. Too many existing regulations and laws as it is.
