Why does the Women's National Championship Game get a better time slot than the Men?

Women tipped off just after 8PM ET on Sunday night.
Men tip off at 9:20PM ET on a Monday night.
Wtf?

People will watch men no matter what the time
Gotta optimize the womens situation as much as possible to get a couple extra eyes on it

Yeah I’m sure the 320 pound lesbian trans ball player with red hair named Fluisha is gonna get the people tuned in, as opposed to the shitty hand eye coordination, missed layups, and no dunks that go down in a womens game.

Its not.
They don’t want to bury the mens semis on a Friday night so they place the women on Fri/Sun so the men take the much higher profile Sat/Mon
It’s a win/win for the networks and host city for tourism.

9:20ET on a weekday allows for better viewership figures on the west coast. A 6:20 tip time is better than a 5:00 tip time. East coast viewership shouldn’t change much from an 8pm to 9:20pm tip. If the game is competitive, those viewers will stay tuned in.

I live in Cali so a 6:20 tip off is perfect.
I can’t imagine a championship game starting at 9:20p local. That’s just wild.

Yeah, it's how a lot of us feel about PAC-12 football. I'd probably watch it a lot more if I wasn't already drunk/exhausted from watching college football all day or going out Saturday nights.

You know why.
Same for calling women’s basketball “March Madness”
Inclusion

The women got a much worse slot than the men given the Grammys were also on.
MILLIONS upon MILLIONS more watched the Grammys over the women's final.
"Nothing" really competes w/ championships on Monday nights.

They only watched the grammys because of the slap. The grammys and other award shows have been dying over the last several years because honestly people don't care about hollywood as much as hollywood cares about itself.
The numbers may say differently, but people bitch about CFB championship being on a monday, and the tournament title game being on a monday. That Friday/Sunday slot may compete with some things, but honestly if people had the choice they would choose that day.
plus, did the semifinal and final really compete with anything else this weekend?

Because having the semis on Sat is much better than Fri.
Not too long ago women were on Sun / Tues
They moved to Fri / Sun to try to get more people to watch.

Because they don't want the Final Four and NC to be on back to back nights?

The actual championship game probably gets the lowest ratings of the whole tournament.

9:20 means more people at home, including west coasters getting to bars and home, compared to 5:20 western time zone.
And they are desperate for anyone to watch the womens game, compared to mens, where they would get ratings, if it started at 10pm est.

No better feeling than achieving total mental confusion while watching PAC-12 After Dark with drunk food.

It doesn’t
Unless you’re adding every single game’s ratings together per round
Example: both final four games vs 1 title game

Honestly if the ncaa wanted to get more eyes on the women’s final four I think it would be wise to basically combine the men’s and women’s final fours
It would work like follows
Saturday (eastern time)
1:00 Women’s semi #1
3:30 Men’s semi #1
6:00 Women’s semi #2
8:30 Men’s semi #2
Monday
6:00 Women’s final
8:30 Men’s final
