The coaches knew he had a bad injury and the play calling reflected that.

True, and he looked really good in those games (well, 2 of them...I think our fans read the stat sheet and assume he had some sort of phenomenal game against state when he really didn’t).
The only thing wrong with his game against State for the most part was that he was split second behind on every read and that got him in some trouble. He cleaned that up the next 2 games. No way of know but if he had not got hurt I really wonder if they would have won more games in 20.

yep third down and red zone were absolutely atrocious with brennan.
We had a non existent running game and a bad Oline. Hard to be good on 3rd down and in the red zone when you 1) can’t run the ball and 2) can’t effectively pick up the blitz. One of those two would make it hard. Both being true makes it impossible.

Well one thing is undeniable.
Joe Burrow never had a three game stretch like Brennan did to start the 2020 season in his entire career until his last year of eligibility. And that was the year of miracles, 2019..

Now lets hear Bech's comments on Daniels. I suspect they would be just as glowing.
You guys continue to bring up Brennan's stats from 2 years ago. None of that matters with the here and now because its a different coaching staff who has publicly stated they want a QB with mobility. What Brennan did 2 years ago when he had Terrence Marshall running wide open against horrid pass defenses is a non-factor for the current coaches.
Daniels is Denbroke's ideal QB while Brennan is not. Even Nuss fits Denbroke's wishes more than Brennan. Its Daniels job to lose and Brennan will most likely transfer or slip to 3rd on the depth chart.
The starter will be chosen for how well he runs the offense that the coaches want and backup QB will be chosen for his time left in the program and ability to run the same offense as the starter. In other words, Daniels will start and Nuss will be the backup and there will be no place in the program for a 6th year senior who wouldnt be able to run the entire playbook due to lack of mobility.

I think Nuss enters the portal, if Daniels wins the job, we lose Brennan too probably.

That’s one hell of an of assumption especially due to the fact that Daniels was not even mentioned. That says a lot too.

There’s a very good chance if Daniels gets the job, he goes pro after this year. It would leave a great spot for nuss in 2023.
But let’s be real, the portal giveth and takes away. If Daniels performs at a high level, getting another qb with experience will not be a problem.

You are a douche bag. There is good competition going on. The best QB will win the job.
Why are you trashing members of the LSU football team ? You are arse. Post less.

No because of his O-line.. the kid has all the talent he needs but he will need protection. The kid from Arizona moves better so the it takes a little pressure off the o-line.
Make no mistake, Brennan will be the starter and not because he’s been here a decade. He’s matured mentally and physically. The biggest thing is how the confidence he now has. Despite what many on this board thinks about him not caring and rather hunt or fish, couldn’t be further from the truth. He used to be very hard on himself and it ate him up. He knew he was coming in as QB1 before his injury and having to follow a QB who just had the greatest CFB season ever was a lot of weight on his shoulders. It didn’t help that the staff was completely checked out going in to 2020. Kid has had some tough breaks but he’s stuck it out. It’s absolutely incredible how much his mentality has improved. He didn’t have a bad mentality and always cared but he was his biggest critic. He’ll easily have second greatest season for an LSU Qb this fall. How much they win depends on alot of other factors.
The “kid” from Arizona has been impressive. Yes, he moves a better than Brennan and will have packages for him and likely get half a dozen snaps a game. Brennan is the guy though. It blows my mind how that we have people shitting on Brennan. He’ll be a top 3 QB in conference. Just like all the retards last year saying Johnson had the “it” factor. He blew and had Brennan remained healthy he would’ve started.

Are you this stupid? Every single LSU player has been trained by the Sports Information folks to say glowing things about their teammates when they meet the press. Players who dont follow along are not made available to the press. Furthermore, nothing any player says can be taken seriously because they are trained to pump sunshine. I know this because I used to be in the recruiting business and I am well aware of how the AD's office works.

I look foreword to seeing Brennan run the offense. But nothing tells me he’s the starter yet at all.

Absolutely, since we saw Daniels drop a couple of dimes to Bech during 11-on-11.

Everyone talks about his pace to start 2020 as if there was no way the better teams we played wouldn’t have slowed that pace down.
You may have a point, but there is no way to know that one way or the other.
I personally thought that the way he was slinging the gall, he was going to be tough to defend no matter the opposition.

I think everyone is basing opinions way too much on three games in 2020. Let’s wait and see what these guys look like right now, running this offense. I do like what Bech is saying and I like hearing he’s becoming a good leader. But we have no idea where this competition will go. I don’t think anyone knows who will start. Not even Brian Kelly.

I don’t get the love for Nuss. I was totally unimpressed by his play.
As for Daniels, I don’t know enough to comment. I will say this, if he beats out Brennan, then he must be pretty damned good.
Time will tell. No matter who starts, I will fully support them.

Wanna give us those 2 SEC teams' record and defensive rankings?
Mizzou finished 5-5, Mississippi State finished 3-7.
That being said, we gave up 632 yards of total offense and 44 points to Mississippi State. They averaged 340 yards and 21.4 points per game on the season.
We gave up 586 yards and 45 points to Mizzou. They averaged 402 yards and 26.7 points per game on the season.
Meanwhile..
Conference rankings:
Total Defense
Mississippi State - #5 (389.7 ypg)
Mizzou - #8 (408.0 ypg)
Scoring Defense
Mississippi State - #6 (28.1 ppg)
Mizzou - #9 (32.3 ppg)
Both teams basically had average SEC defenses and below-average SEC offenses.
