Not sure why Culotta would have a Pels source but here ya go:

Sources: Hearing @Zionwilliamson is going to drop a video today showing he is ready to play for the #Pelicans. Stay Tuned

well that can't be good ..

Shams' source is likely the team, saying "likely no way he's ready this season"

and now Zion's camp gonna put out a hype video

hope he splices in some NBA2k highlights

Williamson and his camp needs to listen to the medical staff for once.

How would Culotta know this

Also he’s not even doing 1-1 work let alone 5-5 work. Not sure how any video could tell us he’s ready to play.

Hopefully this isn't him thinking he's ready and the team refusing to let him progress to 1v1 work...

because then we're right back to square Portland

If, tomorrow, what the NBA is talking about is that the Pels medical staff doesn't want Zion to risk injury, but that Zion wants to play ... well, that's a better conversation for the league to be having than the "Zion hates the Pels and never wants to play for them again" conversation.

IF it were true yeah this could be that.

I find it hard to believe Jordy would have this info.

When was the last time they said this? I know it’d be super fast if he ramped up already since then but what do we know for sure at this point

I for one want to see him play if possible this year

Beating the Lakers in the play-in is priority number 1 for me

I guess we don’t know for sure. We haven’t heard it.

If his conditioning is there all you really need is the bone to be healed. Zion's Instagram would get the word out more than Jordy if this was about spreading the word and putting pressure on the team. This has to either be complete bullshite, or a warning shot aimed at the front office.

It did seem a little conspicuous that the Shams article was followed up by Dame being officially shut down but no word on Zion, like it's still up in the air.

Honestly if he’s ready to go and they won’t let him it’s just going to make the relationship worse

Right—he hated, and we all did, that stupid “ burst” shite. Made no sense

I think with our terrible history, the new medical staff is being way too cautious with our guys. I brought it up with BI still being out—-We need balance.

We can’t try to over compensate because we sucked so much in the past—-that’s not how this works

Culotta is such a hack.

He got a taste of "going viral" with his shouting matches with Dick Vitale and has been desperately trying to do whatever it takes to get that back.

This could mean ready to play as in "ready to be part of the team" rather than ready to be on the court this season

I am going to trust the people that are paid to get and keep our players healthy long-term. If they feel that Zion or BI need to stay out then obviously there must be a reason. Anyone that has played sports knows that many times, players will choose to play even if physically they shouldn't. If you watch the latest behind-the-scenes, you'll see how much information is gathered and thought is put into everything this medical/train staff does.

I'm not some anti-doctor hater. But by that logic, you believe our previous medical staff was perfectly fine? If that's the case then you clearly should have no say on the matter.

Culture and setting the tone are very important in things like this. I can imagine the former Pels medical staff being one that had a football mindset where players are pushed to play with injuries and the staff tried to use that with the Pels which led us to have a terrible rap with players and safety.

We bring the new staff in, and to combat the narrative we go to the other extreme, which is super conservative and babying.

There has to be a middle ground.

Aaron Nelson's medical opinion wins over the dude that's been overweight and hurt 65% of his career.

I don't think this is being done to combat a narrative, I think this is just how Nelson operates. The reasoning behind the bursts wasn't "we have to be overly cautious because the last guys weren't", it was "we are trying to rebuild Zion's biomechanics and when he's tired he'll revert to dangerous bad habits so don't let him play tired."

Honestly for any of us to judge some of these things like the burst strategy, we'd first need to know just how risky his previous movements were. I lean towards they were being overly cautious, but we honestly don't have the information or qualifications to truly dispute it.

You said all that just to agree that we both think they are being overly cautious.

I get it—-but at some point you have to let the young guys play. These are young 20 year old men. If BI doesn’t play Thursday, I know it’s bullshite then.
