Here’s a good example on page 468 of orbital roof fractures from a potential blow to the back of the head (although in the example case, there’s debate about whether a significant blow to the front of the head also occurred).

You can see how thin the bone is in that area of the skull by how the underlying hemorrhage within the orbit itself shows through the thin areas of bone. The second paragraph on page 468 discusses the phenomenon of orbital roof fractures with impacts to the occipital bone.

Yea this is a bunch of nothing. He slipped and bonked his head really hard. He was able to make it to the bed to lie down and never woke up. Classic "don't fall asleep with a concussion" shite we've all heard growing up.


My dad hit his head hard like that at 70 yrs old.
He would have died had we not witnessed it and called 911 against his wishes. He had very little external bleeding and trauma, all while his brain was pretty shaken up and swelling. He insisted he was okay and wanted to sit in his lazy boy. Instead he spent a week in ICU at OLOL to control brain bleeding and swelling.
