First episode was pretty good. Looking forward to the rest.
Agreed... I thought the actress playing Nicole Steele was pretty bad though.

I thought the acting was pretty weak in multiple spots TBH. That said I haven't heard other complaints, so maybe it's just me and I'm no acting/film scholar.
At times it felt more like a Discovery/History docudrama than an HBO miniseries. Anyway, it won't stop me from watching.

Reminded me of older HBO movie productions, not that it is necessarily a bad thing. Remember that HBO movie Recount with Kevin Spacey and Laura Dern about the 2000 election? idk, had that type of feel for me.

Yeah, actually. I don't really know how to judge that sort of thing - part of the time I feel it's adding boring-but-useful authenticity, part of the time I just think it's mediocrity.

The Force by Don Winslow is similar (and he's an absolute political lunatic).
Could not finish this book and that is rare for me. Absolutely terrible.

That opening monologue with Bernthal teaching the class was Emmy worthy.
Very much enjoyed the first episode with Simon taking us back to the streets of Charm City.

The condescending Steele DOJ count ruining what could be a good show….good cast otherwise

I'm really liking the show so far. It is really interesting.
I understand why the DOJ Civil Rights character is in the show, but it is the weaker piece of it so far.
And, as someone who enjoyed Jamie Hector in The Wire and Bosch, knowing what happened in real life, I'm not looking forward to watching what happens to his character in this show.

Agree.. but I guess they needed a condescending Steele DOJ count...
Can't wait for the showdown between her and Hrsal. Or however you spell it.. Last night's conversation was just the beginning.

I love how the DOJ attorney went up to the Hersl cop at the bar and told him that this wasn't an interview. That scene was ridiculous - why the hell would any cop believe that statement?

Churning the waters like that is not unusual, she doesn't care that he believes or doesn't believe what she says. The idea is shining the spotlight on someone often makes them react in a way that uncovers evidence. They can get unnerved and start meeting/talking to co-conspirators or moving money or doing other things that lead to incrimination.
