Which is equivalent to like $2.75 today. Like I said, the 70's did not have high gas prices per se, it was the lack of it available at retail stations. OP is clueless.

quote:My parents did. I remember them buying gas for 20 cents per gallon at a Site station in Videlia, LA in the 60's. Not only was the gas cheap, but during that period of "Gas Wars" different stations offered free glasses, towels or dishes. Exxon, which was Esso back then in Louisiana, gave away Tiger tails that hooked on to your gas cap.
I don't recall anyone ever complaining about the actual prices in the 1970's,

Like another poster said, there is some good music out there. Just not on the radio. Ive found lots of good bands on Pandora. I'm always thinking these are new bands and songs, only to find out all the stuff I think is new is really 5 years old.
All new to me though.
I'm way out of the loop..

It also lead us to electing this guy so perhaps there's some light at the end of the tunnel.

I remember the 70s enough to know it makes nowadays seem like a utopia.
Lead paint and gas, terrible fashion, nasty shag carpet and crappy furniture. Out of control inflation, unemployment and interest rates. Pollution, litter and cig. butts were everywhere. Nobody gave a damn and it seemed like every adult smoked… inside.
A nuclear war could start any minute, but news traveled slower then so we’d have never known before being vaporized.
Great Rock and Roll bands and much better country music was its only saving grace.

This is such a stupid argument. There has always been good music made. You have access to more music than at any other time in history.

You weren't paying attention then. Everyone was complaining about the possibility of $1 per gallon gasoline.

they were more concerned with the scarcity and rationing
Oh, they were concerned about the price. But people have forgotten that Carter DID try to ration gas before the House shot him down:
House kills Carter's gasoline rationing plan

Actual prices and the possibility of prices are 2 different things. Jesus this world is becoming dumber than a doorknob.
