Not sure if this is better or worse than a random shooting. Apparently people are now bringing backpacks full of drugs to the gas station to sell.

quote:

Two people have been arrested in connection to a broad-daylight shooting Wednesday on Essen Lane that left one injured, according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office.

Kendrick Johnson, 24, and Alexis Mungo, 24, were taken into custody late Wednesday for their involvement in an earlier shooting at a RaceTrac on Essen Lane (map) around 4 p.m., EBRSO spokesperson Casey Hicks said.

Johnson attempted to steal a backpack of drugs from a man while he smoked in the bathroom, deputies say. During the struggle, authorities say Johnson shot the man in the foot.

The Mayor has asked all future thugs to please try and shoot their victims close to ERs, like this incident, to cut down on transport time for the injured.

Oh, well that is a relief. At least it wasn't just some random act of violence taking place at a public place...on one of the city's busiest streets...at 4:00 pm in the afternoon...on a Wednesday. It was just a routine drug deal gone bad. It's not like it was a mid-day shoot out in the middle of another of BR's busiest streets.

I'll feel better when there is a ghetto shootout on Stuart Ave. across the street from St. Aloysius at 1:00 pm on a Tuesday as long as it was just a drug deal gone awry

This is a daily occurrence on Sherwood south of I-12. The Dealer even comes in 1-2 times a week to fill his "runners" cars up as they sit at multiple pumps. He then will go to the picnic table area and sell to the usual street walkers. This all happens in the middle of the day usually around the lunch hour.
