Hey y'all, just getting into shooting as a sport and hunting with my own rifle. I bought a vortex vanquish and a utg accu-shot. Any experience with either? Is there another scope you'd recommend for under 200 bucks?

Thanks. Anyone have experience with the two that I already sunk money into?

Burris Fulfield II scopes can be had under $200. For the money they are hard to beat IMHO.

No. I've had good personal experiences w/ Vortex Crossfire and Diamonback products, but haven't used a Vanquish. Had never heard of UTG until today. At that price point, Redfield Revolution, Vortex Crossfire and Burris Fullfield II are usually available (depending on the specific model) and are generally good scopes. What will the scopes be used for?

One will be used for a .308 ar-10 platform, and the other for a bolt action 7mm

im trying to get a night vision scope, or night vision binoculars so i can shoot some of these Coyote's that are bothering my land. I live in the middle of no where with a lot of cows. Trying to find something that isn't freakishly expensive and I don't trust the reviews on amazon much. I search by top reviews and it will show 1 scope for $599 and next for $98. All in the top reviews. I would rather hear some recommendations from real people on here. Anybody ? I have a bolt action 308, 284, and my AR 556... the Coyotes seem to sit at least 100 yards out so that puts the AR out. Suggestions ?

First, this
Isn’t a great line of thinking. We take big boars with 556 a lot further than 100 yards.
Second, thermal will be way better than NV especially at over 100 yards. Figure out what you can stomach spending on a scope and double it. Hate to say it but the $1000 NV scopes won’t do the trick at over 100 yards for yotes.

There is resounding good reviews on that Burris on rokslide
I've got a Burris signature 3-15x, it's stellar for the price ($315)
Burris is owned by Benelli.

Close…. Beretta holding is the group that controls Burris and Steiner along with LDI that I think was killed and rolled into Steiner

i have a 3x9 vortex vanquish on a .22 rifle. i think its a great scope for the price (academy clearance). It picks up enough light to clearly see your target during legal shooting hours. i also have a crossfire II on a 45-70. i'd say the clarity is comparable.

Sig Sauer Whiskey 3 is a solid choice for that price range. I have a 3-9x40 on my PSA 20" 6.5 grendel upper, and really like it as a inexpensive AR setup.

Thank you for the reply. I might just go with my 556 AR then since I have a pretty good setup on that rifle that I enjoy shooting. I'll start looking for the thermal I want while I try to work it into the budget hehe.

The 5.56 is adequate for coyote hunting well beyond 100 yards, as long as you're shooting quality, accurate ammo. Your typical 55 gr FMJ in steel case is most likely NOT going to be adequate. Good 556/223 ammo is probably going to be hard to find for a while yet. Thermal looks really cool (from the pics and videos I see), but are quite expensive. I've got a night vision scope, but I'm just in the process of setting it up so I can't yet give a personal review. I expect it to cover shots to max of 150 yards or so w/ the illuminator that came with it. Longer shots will probably require a different illuminator. An even more budget friendly consideration than night vision or thermals would be attaching a red or green light to your gun. I've used this light to shoot coons at 100 yds, but I think it'd work well inside 200 yards. More powerful lights should work >200 yards. If you use a light for night hunting, I'd suggest considering a scope w/ an illuminated reticle. I don't have one, but I've thought it might be easier shooting if I had an illuminated reticle. Keep us updated.

Yeah I have a few boxes of high quality ammo plus me and my father reload ourselves. He's very knowledgeable about what loads for different purposes so I'll pick his brain some. Thanks for the light link, I added it to my Wishlist and will keep my eye on it for some upcoming purchases to outfit my night time setup.

Good job! I'd prob go w/ a 50 gr bullet for coyote hunting, but if you like 40 gr bullets, the V-Max has been available at Midway for a few months now. MW also has some good 50 gr bullets in stock, including V-Max, TNT, Speer and Hornady SX. Primers are still hard to come by, but powder is starting to show up more. MW should have "free shipping" for orders >$49 soon. I need to get a few things.
Keep us updated.
