Gotta agree. Crawfish are pretty overrated.
Agreed. It's a regional thing, at best. Akin to deer hunters trying to convince me how good venison is. Shrimp>Crawfish & Beef>Venison

I sort of agree. I don't think crawfish are overrated, but getting crawfish for $5/lb or more at a restaurant just isn't the same experience as a good boil with friends and family.

And to be clear, I’m not saying they don’t taste good. They do. But so do corn and potatoes after you cook them the same way.

Put another way, if you grill a good steak with zero seasoning, it will still taste pretty good. Eat a plain crawfish tail with zero seasoning, no sauce, etc, and pretty much everyone will agree the experience wasn’t particularly pleasant.

And yet, people pay steak prices to eat crawfish.

This. Its a day with nowhere else to be, good weather, ice cold beer and good people. If you can't enjoy a good crawfish boil, you suck. My favorite is when I start prep at about 10:00 a.m. with a spicy bloody mary and some tunes. Get the chest stocked with some good beer and ice. Do another bloody after the first. Then once the pot is rolling. Once that beer is near arctic temp switch over to that and get the fixins cooking and make first serving between 1:30 and 2:00. Do a second batch after that which will be more spicy for the adults.

Throw in some yard games or cards and a baseball game where the Tigers win to finish it off and man…it doesn’t get much better.

One of my great memories is playing bourre around the table with the old people, listening to the LSU game in the background.

I still remember the bright floral wallpaper and the pea green sofa.

Crawfish are superior in taste to fried chicken(the crust is the best part, rest is meh) and pot roast. Prime rib? Probably depends on my mood.

But I'll say this, boiled shrimp/crabs ARE superior to boiled crawfish
Shrimp? No. Never as spicy. Crabs? Probably, yes, because of the amount of "fat" when you tear off the carapace.

You're trying to argue that crawfish are overrated from fricking Chattanooga Tennessee? Yeah, I would agree those would be overrated.

Prime rib is disgusting meat sponge and is the least appetizing of all beef varieties. The fact that it's called "prime rib" despite not actually having to be USDA prime grade beef should clue you in that you're being sold a bill of goods.

Go home gump.

That’s like a thread I saw the other day where some Cook from Kentucky was saying the restaurant he worked in wanted his “jambalaya” recipe and how much should he get compensated for it.

Like he invented the dish or something. I linked them to the Jambalaya calculator. That’s some gall. Because when I think about great Jambalaya, I think Kentucky.

The link you posted was for Tennessee. But both those locations would be pretty bad too.

I had a gf that paid $10 a pound in Lubbock Texas and told me they weren't good. I told her what the hell are you doing buying crawfish at a restaurant in Lubbock Texas? Of course they wouldn't be good.
