I thought it was a PM thing, but

I have now watched our new coach/pitching coach not stress the importance of NEVER throwing a strike or even a hittable pitch when the count is 0-2.
It happened against Texas and it just happened again, costing LSU a run on the sac fly. The pitch to Baylor's 4th hitter was a fastball right down the middle.
Sorry, but that is just ridiculous pitching. This kid for LSU has great control so far but his location in situational counts is awful. Someone teach him how to pitch, because he appears to have great stuff and control.

So you know Kelly called a heater down the middle?

This is a dumb thought

Now you would be correct in saying that the location was bad. But a FB on the outer black is a great pitch no matter that count.

Ever think the pitcher could have missed his location?

I tell you what gets old..
A pitcher going 0-2 then throwing two consecutive pitches no where close to the zone running the count to 2-2 time after time.

I can't believe coaches allow the team to get called out 27 times every game. It's unbelievable.

Based on the sequence, FB was a good call. I’m about 95% sure Taylor just missed the spot. Was meant be outside, slightly off the plate.

You make it sound like it’s so simple. Remind me again why you aren’t in the pros?

It happened many times last year and yes it just happened again. A gut pitch down the middle with 0 and 2 is ridiculous. This isn’t high school where can overwhelm hitters with fastballs.

Did you just miss the part where Milazzo was set up for a low fastball below the hitters knees and the pitcher missed the spot and groves a fastball?
Sometimes it’s not the coaches and the players don’t do what they are supposed to do.

Some of the greatest pitchers to ever throw a baseball would disagree.

Yeah. They are college kids. Sometimes a pitch gets away from them.
I'm pretty sure they know what pitches to throw. Sometimes, it doesn't work out the way they want it to.

NO its not. Some of your guys are just baseball ignorant. No way ever should the 4th hitter get a hittable pitch with a runner in scoring position on 0-2 count. The hitter is in a protective mode, and will swing at bad pitches, and the pitcher has to take advantage of that situation. Anyone that doesn't believe this just doesn't know baseball so stop posting.

I thought this thread was a dumbass thing, I was right!

Yes that is possible. but if coached properly, he would know to NEVER throw a hittable pitch with runner in scoring position when the pitcher has such an advantage. Make the hitter hit your pitch.

Well maybe one day we’ll get a coach that can coach pitchers properly.

He missed his spot. It’s not coaching when a player just doesn’t put the ball where he is supposed to.
