Pretty sure the guy you responded to has more baseball knowledge than you do.

No way ever should the 4th hitter get a hittable pitch with a runner in scoring position on 0-2 count

I agree that the location was bad.

I disagree that you think the coach called a fastball down the middle.

CPM was a believer in burying 0-2 pitches. It pissed him off when they offered anything near the strike zone. This is directly from an LSU pitcher you would know. Every time he saw a hittable 0-2 pitch he would say, “Mainieri is going to pissed.”

This isn’t high school where can overwhelm hitters with fastballs.

You must not watch a lot of college ball. This happens pretty often, especially when a batter is looking for a curve or change up.

I didn't imply that the pitching coach called a fb down the middle. Of course not. What is missing is that our coached, and PM was terrible at this, is emphasizing strongly enough to pitchers the importance of making the hitter hit his pitch. 0-2 counts put the pitcher in a very strong position, and if a pitcher throws a pitch over the plate, then that advantage is completely negated. That is all I was saying and I was strongly taught that playing baseball at a high level as a catcher.

Lot of difference between the guys the GOAT was throwing to and Baylor.
