Congrats baw.
Massive pay raise and you get to move out of nola? shite. Next best thing to winning the powerball.

I expect my family to guilt trip me into staying as my parents are getting up there in age.
If my son got a job offer in Denver I would tell him to seriously consider it and to make sure he had a guest bedroom for our visits

A lot of advice it seems is revolving around “screw the family, you do you”
If your family is important to you, talk to them about it.
You can replace loser friends all day long, can’t replace family.

You're 26, just how old can your parents be that they will need special care in the near future???
Even if they were in their 30's when they had you, they'd still be in their mid 50's, and by today's standards, that's not considered "old".
You've got your future to think about and that much of a raise in pay is something to seriously consider. The added benefit is not living in N.O. much longer.
If my choice, I'd be packing instead of typing.

Go for it. You can always move back. You are young and single. Easy nonstop Southwest flights into NOLA.

I know a few people who have moved to denver in the last 10 or so years and all love it.
I would never move to denver specifically because denver metro is cool or interesting. I would move there for the super easy access to a world class mountian range at your doorstep.
I think it's a safe assumption that the quality of people in Colorado are in a different league than your average Louisiana resident

Just got an offer for a position in Denver that would pay 37% more than what I make now.
but what is the COL there? if its 50% higher then your net is you make less there then you do here
Posted on 3/6/22 at 7:37 pm to philly444
At your age, go for it.
But it's expensive as frick to live there so your 37% raise is gone.

Yep. It's super easy to move back here but really hard to move away once you get married, with kids, etc.

Go and tell your parents to move up there with you
A 10% raise is a good reason to move assuming similar COL. 37% is a no brainer.

Also for all the people who say that the cost of living will be a shocker for him, COL in Denver is about 6% higher than nola.
Nola is NOT a low cost of living city.

yea i know plenty of people who move to denver and realize it sucks; some even move back to new orleans after spending time there
granted these people werent really the outdoorsy types so i have no idea why they moved to denver anyways
and youre right the cool things about denver are an ~hour outside the city which realistically youll see 5-7x per year. so you have high COL, concrete, draft beer, panera bread and hippies in flannel the majority of your experience.
if this board has a consensus agreement on something its wrong most of the time
