Occasionally, if fleas are a problem
One time I had a kitten that had fleas so bad that he needed a bath... Thank gosh he was a kitten because it was a chore.

Cats are self bathing creatures but sometimes they need a wipe down from rolling on dirt. I recommend wetting a paper towel, squeeze most of the water out until it's just damp then wipe down the cat with it. Do it like you're petting it.

Yup. Just to hear the yowls.

I do not bathe adult cats unless a skin issue requires it. I have bathed all kittens because the usually either come with fleas and too young to use treatments or the are smelly from shelter life, Use a gentle shampoo for cats because as many said they “clean” themselves so they ingest whatever you put on them. If your kitten is not smelly and flea free just brush it daily to remove loose hairs and distribute skin oils. I have fostered amd bottle fed lots of kittens and have 6 adult cats.
I would recommend starting to trim their nails early. Tip their claws to take sharp points off. Its easy because you can see the quick. Do it while it is sleeping. Ask your vet to show you how to do it. Happy to answer any questions for you.

We have a big fat cat who likes to roll around in dirt.
So yes we have to bath him….. probably about once a month. He obviously doesn’t like it and makes some crazy cat sounds. But he has yet to maul us so he is a good boy.

Depends on the cat and the circumstances.
Hold them by the scruff of the neck, it doesn't hurt them and you can control them better. We do it in the shower, using the hose attachment, and make sure the water is warm. Use the right shampoo so you don't dry their hair and skin out, dry them good in a towel, give them a treat afterwards.

Just prepare to get soaking wet because they are likely to try to climb you to get out of the sink. The ‘neck grab’ given above is your best move. Prepare the water, grab the cat, do what you have to do.
Warm blankets out the dryer make them forget all about it in minutes.

The only time I've ever bathed a cat was a slightly larger than kitten age cat that had been getting in engine compartments. She had grease and other grime all over her.
Bathed her with no issues.
Turned out to be a great cat.

Nope
I only did it once when one was a kitten. Smelled like a pool hall with all the smoke it absorbed in her fur.
Congratulations on never getting any sleep especially in the early morning 4:30 am on.
Mine want
Food
Clean litter box
Then he poops
Then wants brushing
Then wants to play with toy
Then goes to sleep
