It was paid into, and when first enacted the average lifespan was less than 65 years, so everyone paid into it, not everyone was going to get a dime.

Social Security is paid into, and not that great of an investment, just a forced investment. It has relied on babies being made and population expansion.

Original Dreizin report post from the 8 May '23.

I wouldn't put much credibility in Dreizin, a government worker from DC. He seems to be somewhat of a grifter, al la James Vasquez, but for the other side.

The fact that Birds of Magyar is operating on the Velyka Novosilka axis is all you need to know to figure out that this is the primary Ukrainian axis of attack.

If you don't know who Magyar is (pronounced like Major, but meaning Hungary), he has a legendary drone unit, by far the best in Ukraine. They killed crazy numbers of Russian troops and equipment in Bakhmut for months. His guys use both FPV drones (kamikaze drones) and the quadcopters to drop ordinance.

He put up a video on his Telegram yesterday evening showing his team killing eight tanks -- at least he said eight, though I only counted six. It's a fun watch for the first five minutes, as his team celebrates like they won the Super Bowl after each kill. The rest of the video is an extended commentary from him (in Ukrainian), but do go watch the first few minutes.

LINK

Then, last night, he put up another video of three more tank kills.

LINK

It's bizarre how this war has developed, but a majority of the drones for both sides are still crowdsourced and privately purchased.

Michael Weiss and Jimmy Ruston have compiled the evidence to say why they conclude that Russia blew up the dam. It's a comprehensive view of what we know: LINK.

It's interesting that the WSJ put that outside of their pay wall.

There's a custom repo on Github that emulates Google Bot (indexing) and gets behind the paywall of a number of news type sites.

With Chrome, store the script in a folder and manually install it as an extension. Add the uBlock Origin Chrome extension and it'll work better.

Doesn't work for everything listed in the Github description so individual mileage may vary. Works on WSJ, Foreign Policy, Chemistry & Engineering News, Harper's, WAPO, The Economist, Financial Times, Scientific American. A few others on that Github list.

ETA: Also works for The Athletic.

NEW AXIS JUST POPPED!

LINK

"In the area of ??the city of Vuhledar, Ukrainian units have advanced towards the enemy up to one kilometer," — Press Center of the Tavry region.

Vuhledar is east of the Velyka Novosilka axis, and I consider this to be a secondary axis that will support the main effort south of Velyka Novosilka.

I'm very curious if another western-equipped brigade is working here. My crummy map:

Have seen a similar report on this via another source, very interesting development if it progresses.

Also Andrew Perpetua is releasing a new version of his war map soon which will have a bunch of handy features incorporated in it.

I'm not convinced either way but it sure seems odd how they put out that creepy video weeks after the guy disappears and is rumored to be dead or incapacitated yet still no further sightings anywhere else when he was all over the media before. That video gives off some CGI vibes to me and that Japanese flag is just, weird. Everything about it is weird. If it's real and meant to intimidate Putin - I don't think it worked.

Oh, well that settles it then! The UKR gov't or military has never tried to deceive the public before!

Aren’t you one of those “Russia has only lost 16k troops!” Guys who fell for a crudely copied and pasted altered graphic the Russians disseminated ?

I'm not sure I've ever said that, at least not recently. There's no doubt that the casualty ratio is at least 7:1 in Russia's favor however (likely higher than 10:1). That shouldn't be a controversial assessment either but here we are.

Very prominent UKR propagandists also doubt that video's authenticity by the way: LINK

No doubt, probably closer to 20-1 if you dont believe the propaganda.

What does the Pentagon have to do with this regional border dispute on the other side of the planet? We've been told repeatedly that they aren't involved in any way. They wouldn't be lying would they?

A basic understanding of ranged artillery and both side's supply/capabilities of men and equipment is really all that's needed to come to that conclusion.

Having lived in both Ukraine and Russia for several years I know a bit about the situation and how they got to this point.

How about you? UKR flag in your Twitter bio?
