Interesting Twitter thread from the former Estonian defense minister LINK

Reads like a bunch of bullshite. The 20 billion per day pretty much cements it as BS to my eyes.

That’s a quality perspective summary.

If you actually listened to Putin's 3 hour dissertation on why Russia is justified in invading Ukraine a few day's ago, you'd realize he's off his rocker.

The entire planet minus Belarus is against this. Put that in perspective.

I agree that Putin sees Ukraine as a part of Russia.

But Putin's not nearly as idealistic as you portray him to be. He's mostly concerned that Ukraine was slowly getting rid of Kremlin corruption and providing compelling evidence that a democratic country could succeed on Russia's doorstep. Putin had to eliminate Ukraine before his own people started to question why Russia's economy is so backwards and corrupt.

Cool essay.

The way the Ukrainian people have responded towards Russia's invasion shows that they want nothing to do with Russia anymore and would rather be aligned with the West.

You may have to add the UAE to the list with Belarus.

Interesting and fair assessment of the war so far by Mick Ryan here:

Interesting he uses the ratcatcher and regulator analogy from "Rules of the Game Jutland and British Naval Command" a great book about the Royal Navy's failure* against the Germans at the beginning of WWI.

A must for any military leader and actually a great read for any leader of men.

* Jutland was a victory for the British but a very costly one compared to Trafalger which the book uses as a foil.

I think we are starting to see why Hollywood has gone overboard with the Superhero movie genre.

Because so many gullible fools who consume those movies by the gross thinks that geopolitics play out like their precious MCU movies.

I don’t know one way or the other how many Ukrainians are more favorable to Russia or the West… but the West and the Western media has their agenda too.

Imagine how our Black Lives Matter protests looked to the rest of the world if you went by what our media broadcasted to the world.

Again, I don’t know what the truth is, but it’s probably not so black and white.
