If you don’t think that was designed for Days you better stop watching Basketball

Days to shoot a 3 from the corner
Has Days made a 3 from the corner this year?
What was he even doing there?

I was shocked we got a good look. I expected Pinson or Gaines to dribble until 2 secs and jacking up a bad shot

There was nothing factually wrong with what I said nor was it ignorant. It was an asinine play call and the coach deserve a ton of criticism for it. Down by 1 you don’t shoot a 3 pointer and you sure as hell don’t have your best rebounder shooting it.
The you don’t know basketball type responses everytime Wade gets criticized are just silly at this point.

Anybody who has ever played or watched a basketball game knows that the guy driving to the goal in the final seconds of a game will no doubt get doubled teamed on the drive so the play will be for Days.
If this is true, explain how Tremont Waters scored the buzzer against Maryland because it’s basically the same play. Screen at the top to drive right, the defender stayed on Javonte in the corner and he took it in for the layup. That wasn’t hard to prove your statement was 100% false.

That’s right. I forgot Will Wade cannot be criticized. If you do, you just don’t know basketball

It's amazing how little this board understands basketball and this post is a great representation of that.

Each play is designed for multiple options unless you don’t have the time to run play. This time will drive you nuts if you let them we may lose to Mizz and beat ark and Alabama. They play up to competition. Shows lack of senior leadership.

If Maryland double teams the guy driving to the goal, like what teams do 99% of the time, Tremont does get a game winner. With that play the 3 pointer shot will be your only option most of the time.
It’s amazing that people on here are completely fine with the play we ran instead of getting the ball to our 1st round draft pick who has been incredible hard to guard

It’s bizarre.

Designed play or not, if we're in that situation again, you can count on Days getting the last shot and missing, as usual.

It’s bizarre.
It’s bizarre that so many people harp on one play as if all the cosch has to do is draw something up for a guy to score and the opponent is going to let us do if.
The play was a rather simple play and has its pluses. Our PG drives, he’s a good FT shooter, he can penetrate and look for our best scorer on the low block or if double teamed kick it out to the wing for an open shot with our best offensive rebounder on the low block looking for a rebound just in case.
SC double teamed, Days missed, Eason did poor job rebounding and we were late fouling.
We could have drawn something up for Eason, but he’s not Lebron James. He does better without the ball and SC was going to do all the could to deny him the ball. We don’t screen all that well so freeing him up for a shot wasn’t likely. That’s just who we are.

I don't have an issue. Yes Eason is our best player but in that situation having the ball in Pinson's hands and letting him draw and make decisions - he had been making good one's all game - I like. I have no problem critiquing WW for any number of things but this one no.
Eason had just made a critical turnover a couple of possessions earlier (and after the game Eason said that cost us the game put it on me) you say get Eason the ball down low? Do you mean posting up? That is not a strength of Eason's. Maybe get him the ball at the elbow so he does not have to dribble more than once or twice to get the goal.
I think the play call was let Pinson create and draw and make the decision on who to pass to. I have no idea the options drawn up, Eason may well have been one, but Days was open - he was 4-7 from three for the day before that and he had hit a corner 3 earlier in the game and it was an open look. I've seen far worse drawn up.
Our defense cost us the game, at the end of the first half and and down the stretch. Which given it was once our greatest strength is most disappointing to me.

The problem is that if they ran a play for Eason, and he doesn't score, you're going to complain that they should have ran something else.

So serious question. For those of us who are not as basketball savvy, what was the play designed to do?

Nope, because it would have been the correct play call. It’s ok to criticize Will Wade when he does something dumb.

Wasn't he the player,in the post game interview, blaming himself for the loss due to a turnover that he made.
The play was drawn up and executed. The player missed the shot.
You know, like the SEC tournament in 2021. The player missed an easy tip in that cost us the win. shite happens.

Just give the ball to Eason down low and he gets 2 or 2 free throws.
Did you see how this game was being called and how the rest of the games during SEC play have been called? You want to put the Fate of the game in the officials hands? No thanks. I'll take a wide open look for the win any day. If it would have went in then nobody would be saying anything. You see that's the thing about basketball, sometimes it goes in and sometimes it doesn't.
