It's more than that, though. (For me at least). By the time of William, it just seems to me that he, and others had become more of feudal European noblemen. I don't think he went on Viking raids for instance. It was more like concentrating his power over his duchy and then making on the English throne through some hereditary claim and consolidating it through warfare.

Enough of that, though - how are we going to discuss this show? I'm guessing the entire season has dropped since I've watched the first two episodes.

Are there going to be separate episode threads so people can discuss them as they watch them? Or will it stay one thread and we risk the possibility of being spoiled from someone who is farther ahead in their watch?

William is never considered a Viking or Scandinavian in any sense. Leif Erickson and Harald Hardrada were at least Scandinavian even if they never went Viking. But whatever—these are all fascinating people. Esp Hardrada, who is lesser known but lived an amazing life.

It’s like they’re not even trying to not be garbage woke anymore. They’ll literally inject a black woman role into any historical context whatsoever at this point.

And of course she’s a bad arse that cows even the most badass me

I was confused when she showed up

I nominate Methuselah and pledge my fielty to your threads on VV. Lol

I don't get hung up on historical accuracy. Just want a well produced, acted, and good story.

If they would have seen a black woman anywhere in Norway or anywhere in that region back then, they would have burn her alive and brought her ashes to the THING and burned her again!

I never saw the first series but just started watching this one. I also rolled my eyes at the black viking woman but that's just hollywood these days, if I let every dumb woke thing push me away then I wouldn't have much left to watch.

Because theres not much left to watch. Most of the time I can’t suspend reason and common sense when watching period stuff. Especially knowing it’s due to studio role quotas

But to each his own. Im the same way when a 105lb girl mops the floor with everyone and punks grown men in submission. Later

Ep 6. and loving it. The showrunner is Jeb Stuart for heaven's sake. He HAD to do something, and as ridiculous as it is, the Swedish chick nails the role. Nails it.

Plenty of that in this series.

The production value of the original Vikings blew this out of the water. They obviously tried to piggyback off the success of the original show but failed. This being a Netflix production, I really thought they would blow Discovery out of the water but this wasn’t even close.

I enjoyed the series and to be honest a little more accurate than Vikings. Eric the Red his Leif's father but in Vikings they had Eric alive but he was yet born. This series seems to be placing the right characters with the right events a tleast date wise.

Show would be much better without the black Viking chick pisses me off every time she is on screen. Either do a historical piece or don’t we know it’s mostly fiction but there were NO black Vikings it ruins the whole vibe n every scene she is put

The Last Kingdom is 100x better than this show. Can’t wait for March 9th.

The accents are tough for me to get past. They all talk like Romanian vampires in the old Universal films.

I always saw THe Kingdom as the sequel to Vikings. AS Ragnar kick started the Viking invasions and dominance. And their story end. In Kingdom New heroes rise and Kickin the viking out a hundred years later and the rise of the first United Kingdom King.

Oh shite. I finished Last Kingdom a few weeks ago and somehow got my wires crossed with Vikings and thought I’d seen Vikings and ready for Valhalla, which I’m 6-7 episodes in. Need to go back now and watch Vikings.
