Im really trying to figure out the brokerage account.
Dude probably lost it all on Doge and trying to sell his wife that it was converted to Walmart gift cards.
They should be able to catch the people in about 5 minutes.

Doesn't uber give you the name and vehicle of your driver when you request the ride?

Correct. However, the tPOS are stalking victims who appear to be extremely intoxicated.

If they knock you out can't they just hold the phone up to your face to unlock it?

They should be able to, through audits, logs, and the IP address. However, we are talking about NOPD here.

Do these women just go cruise around looking for someone to act like they're the ride? How are they matching the make and model of the vehicle?
This tells me that this is a much more sophisticated crime ring that just average NOLA hoodrat shite.

How are they showing up in the same type of vehicle that the app reported? That was stated twice in the article at least. Seems like an odd coincidence.

Lol no. It’s just hoodrats picking up extremely trashed people in the French quarter.
It’s not hard to see who’s waiting for an Uber. You just have to find a blacked out person or group

They could be using a deceased persons SS, DL, fake direct deposit info, and burner phone and somehow managed to get around the background screening. I looked into the third party background check company Uber uses and they use Checkr, which only goes back 7 years. The problem is, Uber doesn't Facetime these people to properly ID them with as simple as verifying the face to the DL.

Or, hear me out, a drunk guy got into a car of someone.
It doesn't take some scheme, just prey on idiots.

The city should force Uber drivers to better brand their cars too.
Not a full fail safe but one more hurdle, and additionally when a random car stops in front of you and people pop out in the middle of the block you will rest slightly easier about not being car jacked

There is a badge on the back with a unique number issued by the state.

I was thinking that too - something else must be going on

I’ll admit - not often these days but it was pretty rare that I closely check the make and plate.
If I’m looking for a dark sedan, and a dark sedan seems to be looking for me at 3:30am… you drive enough blocks in a generic enough ride and you may find a drunk person popping in your car
