From your link:

The average price of grade AA butter hit $2.02 per pound for the week ending Dec. 11, 2021, up 40% compared to the same time period a year ago, according to an analysis of USDA data by IndexBox. The latest USDA dairy market report found that the weekly average price of butter rose to $2.66 per pound for the week ending Jan. 7.

Still no where near the $6.29 a pound that your dumbass somehow managed to find.

Yeah, and I wonder where these same people were in 2017 when butter was higher than it is today.

WEEK OF JANUARY 31 - FEBRUARY 4, 2022

I wonder what is different?

Or that so many people didn’t read the price sticker and see that it’s labeled LOL Unsalted Butter.

Lot of unsalted butter bros got upset over thinking someone was laughing at unsalted butter.

Not sure why I am so fascinated with this topic...

Out of curiosity, I checked the price of the LOL butter on Kauai. It has to be shipped from the mainland then transferred in Oahu to a smaller boat that can dock at the port in Kauai (on an odd note the port is Port Allen and even more of a coincidence has lots of cane fields around it).

Even with all that travel and the high overhead to operate a store there (real estate is outrageous and the vast majority of the electricity is produced by oil-fired generation stations again brought in on small ships) and the Walmart price for LOL butter is still 82 cents a pound cheaper.

Obtuse1 - dis·in·gen·u·ous - not candid or sincere

That's a little different.... And not a true or honest statement about this situation... But I am going to bypass that for a minute...

For anybody else that cares to comment.

Uh Oh... Looky here... It's a Video just released 2 hours ago by CNBC... It's about BUTTER HITTING A 4 YEAR HIGH.... Talk about timing huh? I mean to release this video just 2 hours ago? They must have read my thread.

and check it out... The farmer that they talk to produces milk for, are you ready for this? ... Land O Lakes... and he even says that a lot of the problems are... (ahem) Government Regulations... <<<--- Might want to read that again... Government Regulations. Skyrocking costs of operations for things like cattle feed. Probably Gas too and inflated packaging costs.. Oh and shipping increases... Did I mention that the farmer they interview provides milk for Lank of Lakes?

Price of butter skyrockets - 2 hours ago - 2/8/2022
CNBC’s Jane Wells joins Shep Smith to report on the what’s behind the skyrocketing demand for butter and who’s likely to benefit.

But hey.. I feel better.. Because I was told by some good folks on the internet, (TeddyPadillac who btw can't hold a conversation without hurling verbal insults) that if a total economic collapse happens because of this incompetent Administration, that all I have to do is go to Wal-Mart. I feel better knowing that.

But hey... Remember that I was also accused of just finding the picture on the internet and making the whole thing up.

It’s weird how much time and energy you’ve spent on a thread about butter prices.

You realize that when something hits a 4 year high that means it's still cheaper than it was 4+ years ago right?

I chose that word very carefully. I could have attached liar or dumbass or a plethora of other nouns and adjectives to you as a result of your display of understanding ITT but instead, I chose a less pejorative word that fit but didn't lean into the ad hominem.

The problem was you presented a very poor representation of inflation. To make an argument inflation is at some certain level it requires two data points, specifically two prices (with limited compounding variables) over some set period of time. You did not provide that. An example would have been a picture of the same item in the same store a month ago showing it was $4.99.

You can also use a roughly agreed upon item and price within the group you are addressing as the second data point. This is one reason gasoline prices are often used since most people buy gas routinely and people tend to be very price cognizant about the product. That is why when you say I paid $3.399 for gas in Denham yesterday people nod and share your pain. The problem with your attempt here is you used a price that is highly inflated due to those pesky compounding variables and desperately attempted to pawn it off as an accurate reflection of the base price of LOL butter. In this case, people did not agree that it was a representative price and when you finally divulged the area you were located in it was easy to show the price was inflated by ~55% over the price that should have been used to compare to peoples' generally accepted price of butter. It is like saying I paid $5.999 for gas in Denham today, most people aren't dumb enough to accept that and not know there is something more to that price than you are presenting.

You were either being disingenuous or thick, maybe I was giving you too much credit.

Just relax for a month then go back and take a picture in the same market that shows the butter is $7.99 and we will all nod and share your pain.
