When called out, they run to the media to help explain why it was necessary to take away more of our rights after all. Usually it's because we're racist, or we're rubes, or it's because they know what's best for our children.

If this is illegal, where are the lawsuits? I know they took out the NEA, but where are the other groups? Waiting for the feds to actually do something after they see how their CA test goes?

The government is not going to take a single gun, they don’t have too, they will ban ownership of all but a few firearms, and offer a amnesty period to sell them to the government. Possession of a banned firearm will be a felony with severe penalties. Faced with possible prison, losing their, job home, pension, life savings, and their children being homeless most will comply. You can hide them, “lose them in a boating accident”, whatever, but there will be incentives for people to turn in illegal gun owners, right now 50% of America would not hesitate to turn you in. There will be video on the nightly news showing the death of the occasional idiot that tries to shoot it out with a SWAT team. Eventually society will see those possessing illegal firearms as being on the same level as crack dealers.

I’m unaware of any database of minor boating accidents, though. I guess I’ll just have to relive the whole sad experience if they show up to ask what happened to any firearms I may or may not have purchased in the last few years.

These laws need to be enforced and those who violate them punished. The problem is that the GOP will pass these laws, but don't give it any teeth.
