Dutch reporter dragged off-camera by Chyna agents on live TV

Chinese authorities interrupted a Dutch journalist’s live report on the Winter Olympics Friday, dragging him off-camera and creating confusion as to why his broadcast was halted.
The live standup outside the National Stadium saw Sjoerd den Daas, a correspondent for Dutch outlet NOS Nieuws, manhandled by a volunteer security guard in plainclothes and a red arm band.
The officer stopped den Daas’s attempt to continue, yelling over him and forcing him to stop. Several other guards watched the incident standing nearby, but it was unclear as to why the broadcast was stopped.
“When asked, they couldn’t say what we had done wrong,” the reporter wrote in a series of tweets.
“In recent weeks, we, like several foreign colleagues, have been hindered or stopped several times by the police while reporting on subjects related to the Games,” he continued. “Therefore, it’s hard to see last night’s incident as an isolated incident, as the IOC claims, although such interference rarely happens live on broadcast.”

I'm sure the American media and Twitter warriors will condemn this attack on the media, right?

The want brigade around here would be all for this in this country as well.

weird because the leftists and progressive brigade would have negative social credit scores. their behaviors are not conducive to a stable society.

Thought the translation showed the volunteer Chinese guard was actually being friendly and the reporter was standing on the green belt.

They will be the first to be purged if the society goes full authoritarian.

This. The reporter was standing in an area that was clearly designated to not be stood in.
Im all about 'frick China', but good on that volunteer for not bowing down to celebrity reporters and letting them do whatever the frick they want.

He obviously did not take Nancy's advice.

So is today's China most similar to Nazi Germany or Stalin's USSR?

All freedom loving countries should get back on planes. The US could stay.

confusion as to why
No confusion, they’re throwing down the gauntlet early so other incoming reporters will fall in line

That's what I'm reading, too.
I swear, so many people seem convinced that China is this place where random people are routinely whisked off to the gulag or roughed up on the sidewalk.
Their mannerisms can be brusque, but once you talk to people one-on-one there you understand that this is just part of the culture. Think of it as just a few steps beyond how abrupt yankees are compared to southerners.
Once they understand that it's viewed as rude by most of the world, many will try to do better.
I have issues with how the CCP handles some things, but this demonization of Chinese people themselves often goes way too far.

As someone that has had both parents (two separate incidents) detained by the Chinese authorities, I wonder how you could be so naive.

Everyone that supports or enables the ccp should be exterminated.

That, and they add absolutely no value. They would be in camps

For whatever reason, some folks, like me, get a 1936 vibe from these Olympics.
Maybe only folks who have studied history get that vibe. (shrug)
