Why is the Left losing their mind over the Tennessee school board removing Maus?

The same people who perfected Cancel Culture are now losing their minds over a Tennessee school board removing the book Maus from their curriculum.
Any ideas on why this is such a big issue for the Left?

Good point, I thought they liked community activism and people speaking truth to power or whatever labels they dress up their bullshite with.

I'm going to let you in on some inside information: the answer to anything regarding progressives is racism. So to answer your original question about Maus... the answer is racism.

I dont know either, it wasant written as a holocaust guide for children.

Wasn't it just like one small county school district taking it off a yearly required lower school reading list?
Why do they have to lie about and overly sensationalize everything they promote?

It’s an attempt to stop the pendulum swinging back.

I don't know.
They are still going to teach the holocaust. They are just going to use a different book.
The book isn't "banned". It just will no longer be a text book for the school district.
School districts change text books all of the time.

Because it’s a distraction. They can’t point to a single thing they’ve done that isn’t a complete and total disaster and their base is mad because they haven’t stepped in ENOUGH total disasters. So they distract and come up with random garbage to keep left leaning people fired up in the hope that November is only a red wave and not a complete bloodbath.

yep. McMinn County. Total population 50 thousand.
Alexandria is bigger than McMinn County.

McMinn County removed it from a reading series in 8th grade and encouraged the faculty to find an alternative method to teach the holocaust.
It's a nothing burger that has been made a huge issue because they love misinformation. It wasn't banned, it was just removed from this reading series.

Bingo. The rational left knows they’ve gone too far but they’re in too deep and given their lunatics too much power. Now they see a backlash building and are scared.

I’m from TN originally and had never heard of this book until this “controversy”.

Because it's a freakin comic book that is a fictious story on the Holocaust. We read Alicia My Story by Alicia Appleman Jurman in 8th grade in TN. That book stuck with me. There are plenty of options to teach the kids about the holocaust that involves real stories.

*People who own the rights to Dr. Suess decide to stop publishing some of his lesser known books*
The right: OMG! They are banning Dr. Suess!
The left: Umm, no they aren't. A private company decided not to publish new copies of certain books. No one banned anything.
*Tennessee school board removes Maus from curriculum*
The left: OMG! They are banning this book about the holocaust!
The right: Umm, it's not banned. They removed it from a curriculum. Why are you lying and being so hysterical just like I was a few months ago?

I swear, lol. There are so many idiots on both sides of the isle it hurts my brain at times.

Honestly, I had never heard of the book until this thread. Upon looking into it, sounds like it should be more of a high school book rather than for 8th graders.

quote:Lots of tweets about it from the Left. George Takai, for example, is making it into some kind of hill to die on. But the Holocaust will still be taught. They're just looking for a book they consider to be more age-appropriate. I've never read it so I can't say, but it seems to me that the real issue is that this is a conservative community and a conservative school board and the Left is really fighting about that

They were discussing replacing Maus with the Diary of Ann Frank.
But I can't find the article I read earlier.

White Bird by RJ Palacio
It's actually pretty good. HOWEVER...at the very end, she actually brings the Trump/Mexico border domestic politics into it - basically, insinuating "NOT AGAIN...NOT ANOTHER HOLOCAUST".
I really couldn't believe it. So absolutely fricking absurd.
