Wouldn’t want to hang out with these “decent” people anyway.

There’s a ton of things that society should shame people for, and it would result in a better society. Children out of wedlock, unemployment, drug use, texting while driving, being overweight, etc.

I definitely look down on people that frequent a casino.

The only thing i think should be stigmatized way more than it is is drinking and driving.. not drunk driving, but drinking at all and then deciding to drive.. people joke around way too much about it, and it’s very acceptable in most circles, even though it should be looked at as the absolute trashiest thing in the world you can do .

You know what is shitty? Casinos providing free bus rides to and from elderly care homes the day after their social security check gets deposited. All they do is play slots. Money down the drain.

I don’t see anything wrong with having a couple of road pops on the drive home from the plant after a long days work. It’s one of the finer joys in life, and in no way impairing. If anything it allows me to be more relaxed and not in a huge hurry to get home with road rage.

Pretty amazing how some people defend it, even though they are clearly impaired. Since most who do it are heavy drinkers and lie about how many they have had anyways.

Why the hell should gambling be stigmatized? I am profitable playing poker tournaments and through online sports betting promotions. They are some of the rare things that I relatively enjoy in my misery.

Yep.. cant tell you how many times ive been out with people who drove to the bar b/c theyre ‘only gonna have one or two’ and of course that turns into 3 or 4 or 5 and of course they THINK theyre fine to drive.. i dont get it.. i dont drink a ton anymore, but when i do drink, i never trust myself to know my limits once ive started imbibing, so i dont bother to drive, i just assume im gonna have more than i plan to drink and Uber there, get a ride, etc… Plus you can just relax and not even worry about whether or not you’re ok to drive.

It’s their money. They don’t have to get on the bus.

Who decided they were decent people? They sound like judgmental pricks living with sinful arrogance to me.

I would actually agree.
Like cigarettes, both are extremely addicting and honestly wreak havoc on those most vulnerable in society - the poor and disadvantaged.
For every commercial or high-end guys trip to Las Vegas with "bottles and models," there's 10x more people out there spending money they don't have drinking and gambling their last dime away in Vicksburg and Biloxi. It's sad, and the gambling companies now have the data to exploit those who lose to the furthest degree.
I love to tie one on every blue moon and there's nothing finer than a bourbon by the fire in the fall with the ballgame on - maybe even a friendly wager to make it interesting.
I'm almost done with dry January. Have I had some grand ephiphany? No. But has my mental capacity been on hyperspeed and and is my sleep much better? Oh yea. Alcohol is fun, but I'm done pretending it isn't pretty dang harmful.
There's a reason the ultra wealthy and successful generally abstain from both... it's ultimately a losers game.
I have nothing against either vice as I partake in both, but moderation is extremely key when indulging, which, is no easy feat for many.
