Shawn Laval Smith, 31
I’m sure that ‘misdemeanor’ was probably another murder with the new woke district attorney’s we have growing in our midst.
Shoot ‘em up and walk around free! Nice!
This is of course what you get when you stupid dumb fricks in California and elsewhere keep insisting on voting in Far Left politicians. But you refuse to learn from history and facts and refuse to look at the data and continue voting into office the criminally insane.
The American justice system is an utter 100% failure.

California refuses to build more jails or requires too much shite in the jail for "prisoners rights".

He needed to be out on bail. The jails are over crowded.
You do realize bail is just a way to ensure a defendant shows up for its court dates, right?
It's not supposed to be punitive and the person is presumed innocent at that point in the process.

Why are jails a point of this discussion when the discussion is about people who are presumed innocent?

We have no accountability. We have tons of programs and training for those that want it. There are some that for what ever reason, choose not to participate in society like others do.
They end up in and out of jail for minor offenses but there is little to break the cycle. They do their short stint in jail and then right back to causing trouble. Our system has nothing to counter that.

Hopefully some cop will not choke the life out of this POS so he can be turned into the next George Floyd

Maybe because it wasn't his first rodeo committing crimes? I don't know, just a guess that a person that is well known to commit crimes is likely to commit more crimes.

Smith is also currently free on a $50,000 bond in Charleston, South Carolina in relation to a November 2019 arrest on suspicion of firing a weapon into an occupied vehicle, court records show.
quote:
Smith's prior charges on the East Coast include assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, assault on a police officer, trespassing, possession of a stolen vehicle, and misdemeanors for larceny and possession of stolen goods. The outcomes of those cases weren't immediately clear.
He has a history of failing to appear in court, and has been repeatedly arrested on bench warrants. In one case in Charleston, he was convicted in abstentia after skipping court, and does not appear to have served the sentence, which is sealed in court records.
Telling me that guy shouldn't have been in jail? Clearly the Soros bail bond strategy doesn't work here. Unfortunately innocent people will die for his ideology.

By that “logic” no one should ever be put in a jail cell or even arrested until found guilty of whatever they’re accused of.
It’s an early start for you to be a total moron. What else do you want to be stupid about today?

Dozens of arrests
I think this is the larger point

If we're talking about him "Being out on bail" then that involves a new crime that he's presumed innocent of until proven guilty.

Irrelevant at this stage. Again, presumed innocent.
You want to know what punitive bail looks like? Look up the Kyle Rittenhouse case or the dozens of J6 people who have been incarcerated for months without a trial.

I believe he's mixing the terms of "jails" and "prisons".
California needs more prisons.
And trials should not be held off so long that the "innocent" can be free for a year or so after a crime committed until the trial is finally held.

Oh dude is clearly a POS, but using bail as a punitive measure is a bad policy/philosophy. It completely fricks the system.

because a scumbag with the rapsheet this guy has should not be walking around amongst the public. quit the fricking contrarian act its a pathetic look.

That's going to require a massive decrease in arrests

So your policy is to indefinitely imprison someone without a conviction? That won't work out the way you want it to in the long run.

Let’s make sure that after he gets arrested he gets bail again so we can ‘ensure’ he shows up for his court date!!!
