re: No way you can blame that ref at the end

I know all of that. What I’m saying is the mechanics are flawed. Let the ref nearest the action make the call or spot the ball.
We’ve all seen umpires 2 feet from a goal line scrum not able to make the call. It’s silly.

No, just go watch the video you posted, the ref touches the ball for a grand total of 1 second so you can redefine a slight flinch as re-spotting the ball even though that’s not what happened but even using your version of reality the ref didn’t have the ball long enough to be the cause of the clock running out.

I mean you can kinda blame him for running into Prescott and moving the ball back for no real reason
It was still going to be risky but the umpire being a bumbling fool didn’t help
He ran into Dak because Dak was trying to illegally snap the ball.
He moved the ball back because it was spotted at the wrong place and he was lining it up with the ref on the sideline who had his foot where it should have been spotted.
If Dak goes down 5 yards sooner and waits for the ref to spot the ball they spike it easily.
The ref was trying to get to the ball as quickly as possible to spot it so the play could start, he deserves 0 blame.

The Cowboys called a dumb play and the ref is supposed to set the ball, but no one will address why the ref is so far away with seconds left in a playoff game. 30 yards away seems excessive.

Bruh the ref got to the spot with 4 seconds on the clock. 30 yards or not he was there in time for Dallas to execute what they wanted to do but Dak was too stupid for that to happen.

Have the nearest ref spot it in under 2 minute situations. I blame the umpire for being clunky but not the process of him being the only person allowed to spot it.
This isn’t some hidden knowledge. All teams and coaches should plan for seconds ticking away while refs spot a ball.
It’s coaches for play call or Dak for not getting down sooner and cutting it as close as possible to a last second spike.

Scenario:
Play is run to the boundary side. On the LJ's side. The play ends right at the sideline. 35 yard line. Inbounds.
The LJ will spot the ball on his foot.
The U will come up from trailing the play in the middle of the field and have the ball given to him by the R or he'll get it himself where he then spots it in accordance w/the LJ's foot(spot).
It's been like this forever. And for good reason. The U is always the closest to the ball and in the middle of the field.

You’re right. You can blame the ref. You’d just be wrong

Or they’d just have refs way out of position and they’d miss a call, then the same people bitching to make it that way would have a come apart

He set it down back a yard. Then he set it down about 3/4 of a yard farther up.
He set it back a yard (you know where it should actually have been spotted). Then to speed things up brings it forward which HELPS THE COWBOYS.
And now Cowboys fans are bitching about it

Counter: if he did his job properly instead of racing it would not have even been that close.
That said, maybe warn the ref what’s coming and remind dak about handing it to the ref when you make the call.
Posted on 1/16/22 at 7:59 pm to SteelerBravesDawg
None of this matters.... the entire offensive line was offsides when the ball was snapped after the ref placed it correctly.

The Umpire or Referee must spot the ball before each play. Blame the center or ball carrier

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott disparaged fans for throwing bottles, debris at players. Then Prescott was told the fans were aiming for officiating crew. Prescott retracted. “A credit to them then.”

McCarthy doubling down as well.
Was so happy to see him kicked the frick out of Green Bay.
About 5 years too late...

Such a terrible coach. Couldn’t believe how long it took GB. And then Dallas hires him

My first post criticized the Cowboys play call. Still doesn’t explain the back judge being 30 yards away with seconds left in a playoff game
First off, it's the umpire, not the back judge, secondly where is he supposed to be on the play.
I'm waiting to be impressed with your mechanics knowledge.

How many games have you worked at umpire?
