Yeah. You will receive either a $3,600, $2,000, or somewhere in between child tax credit depending on your income and filing status.

Child tax credit 2022: IRS warns some families may have received incorrect letter

quote:

The IRS said this week that it is investigating reports from some taxpayers that Letter 6419 includes the wrong dollar amount that parents received from the boosted child tax credit, which was paid out in monthly installments from July to December.

quote:

IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig told reporters during a call on Monday that the scope of the error is likely limited, and maintained that he was "highly confident that it is nowhere near millions or hundreds of thousands." Rettig said the IRS will release more information on the matter once it becomes available. It's possible the people who received the erroneous letters could be a small group of taxpayers who recently moved or changed bank accounts in December. Ken Corbin, the IRS chief taxpayer experience officer, said Monday the child tax credit checks may have been undeliverable in those cases, or bounced from bank accounts. "Then the letters may not reflect what the taxpayer actually received," Corbin said.

quote:

People who received the monthly payments can also check the amount of their payments by using the CTC Update Portal. If families opted out of the monthly payments, they can claim the full amount of the child tax credit on their 2021 federal tax return. This also applies to families who don't normally need to file a tax return.

I'm telling you right now, calling them is a joke. Go to your Rep and write about a federal IRS problem (It is in the scroll down in the pre subtopiced letterhead) If you sign a form permitting them to they will straighten it up. Don't ignore it because it will snowball into a lot of things as the IRS is -----------

I don't care if you are wealthy enough with a team of lawyers only the fed (Your Senator) can stop them

--------- such a thoughtful wise organization.

Also don't ask me to explain how I know this but if you are registered republican go register as Independent or you will be hassled.

I work at night for a well-known tax service and had a person who had received $5600 for the third stimulus. However, he was divorced and had this number of dependents in 2019, but not in 2020 or 2021 AND made over the AGI limit.

All research I did indicated that he would not have to pay it back.

I got one of those saying I may be required to pay it back.

So you give me my own money back…which I didn’t ask for…and now I have to pay it back?

You guys dont deal much with the IRS do you, they invented "phishing". Sending out notices like the aforementioned. No telling how many people paid tax on it even though they did not receive it over fear of the IRS or just give up trying to convince them through their myriad of gatekeepers.

so I don't know why they'd be sending us any payments, anyway.

It's like Oprah...If you had kids you got a check and you got a check and you got a check.

Unless you opted out.

I got a letter from the IRS today telling me that money I never got is not taxable income.

They wasted how much time and money sending out letters telling people don't worry we won't tax this again and it is even money we never sent but we cover on our books that we did send.

Meanwhile random $450K payments to illegals and BLM.

The IRS is cooking the books and wasting TIME & MONEY!

Also I just hung up with social security regarding a family member and I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP.

It was someone from their home eating and chomping their lunch on the phone. Out of no where randomly she said please hold. And for two different times for 28 and 34 minutes I didn't hear music I heard a phone ringing tone off the wall that no one was answering.

If you hung up you had to wait another month in a half.

Both parties I spoke with were ignorant Tammy white trash and Shaniqua.
