It's normal for all fanbases to over-value their players. However, if you could, take off your Pelicans' gear for a moment and realistically assess Zion's trade value, today.

Mine: A second tier All Star and a lottery pick (candidly, that may be a bit rich).

Anyone buy Luka or Giannis. If you think anyone less, you don't understand the NBA

the answer happens after he plays 20 games.

current value is zilch.
if he scores at will inside and hits his 27 ppg the last 5 games of season and get 7 boards and 3.5 assists hes a known commodity.
at that point you decide if two #1s is about right if the offered 2022 #1 gets you 14% shot at chet and banchero and the 2024 is unprotected.
the buyer makes this judgement: when ir if
next serious foot leg injury happens.

This is strange coming from you, a guy that can’t wait to call Zion fat in every thread.

But let’s be honest. We also wouldn’t get Jokic, Ant, Lamelo, Cade, Morant, Embiid and several others straight up for Zion at this point.

Guys like Durant, Curry, Lebron would be unattainable as well.

I can hate the guy and know he is a worthless sack of fat shite, but I understand the NBA and what a player of Zion's caliber and marketability is worth.

IDK, this was conducted just recently and is based on responses from 17 executives, so a little over half the league:

LINK /

Question was "Rank who under 25 you would want to start a franchise with"

1.) Luka
2.)Jayson
3.)Ja
4.)LaMelo
5.)Trae
6.)Mobley
7.)Zion
8.) Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
9.) Anthony Edwards
10.) Bam Adebayo
11.) Brandon Ingram
12.)Jamal Murray
13.)Cade
14.)Ayton
15.)Porter Jr.

quote:

Williamson’s injury made ranking him a conundrum, according to the executives. When healthy, Williamson is easily one of the top players to build around. However, his injury history has given executives severe concerns about his dependability.

“I don’t know what to do with Zion,” one NBA executive told HoopsHype. “He’d be in the top three if I had any idea what to do with his health.”

“Primarily, his injury history scared me off, or he would have been on my (top five) list,” another executive said.

Some rival executives are skeptical whether Williamson will return to action this season.

A lot of execs are looking at Zion missing more than half the games he's been qualified to play in and thinking "am I banking my career on building around this guy? Freakish as he is"

And I cant blame them....even if some of those rankings I look at side eye.

Number 2 and number 3 on that list are the two players I said numerous times we needed to end up with when we traded AD.

I mean neither was actually available. Reporting was discussion stopped at Jayson, we could have Brown but not Jayson....And I get it.

I do think what is interesting that we are the only team with two players on the list.

Kinda frustrating because this is such an easy win for Griff to build around and he's struggled so massively

I think we could have got Tatum but probably not much else. It was thought we would get Tatum and Brown but Ainge wasn’t doing that. It was split 50/50 on here between people wanting BI or Tatum. Crewz even said he thought Tatum and Briwn were both way overrated and wanted BI. You know Griff was higher on BI.

And I find it hard to believe that a 80% of the package that got us AD wouldn’t get JA. No way Griff offered up BI to try and get him so no way of knowing if he was really available or not. I’m sure Griff floated some crap package of Ball and a few firsts for the pick, but you can’t count that as really trying.

We should be incredibly excited for how bright the future is. But instead we're questioning if winning is worth losing ping pong balls. Thanks Griff!

Rumor was that he offered pretty much all of the LAL package (including Ball) outside of BI for the #2 pick and Memphis said no.

Also, was widely reported that Ainge refused to put Tatum on the table at all.

Yeah people continue to spin it as much as they can, but it's kinda crazy that we have 2 top 15 under 25 players and most of us were just hoping a healthy Zion would have us as a slightly above .500 team.

And honestly, I suspect if we expanded it to top 20, Garland would be on that list.

Also got to remember that Ball/BI were considered huge disappointments to that point.

BI and Ball were both considered to have broken jumpers and a selfish style of play that wasn't conducive to winning. Ball the baggage of his family.

I wouldnt have taken Ja for them either, honestly, still wouldn't....and I really like BI and think Pels fans deeply disrespect how great a floor raiser and ideal role player Lonzo is.
