For those of you who lost your father, how old were you when he passed?

I’m trying to be grateful that I have had my Dad for 44 years of my life. Long story short, he is very elderly and losing his grasp on reality. I fear his mind will be gone before his body. I just don’t know how to live without him. He’s my best friend. This is hard

16. He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in March, dead in October. He was 38.

God bless your sweet dad. Lost both my parents in my late 20s. Prayers for your Dad.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Mine died when I was 28. We had a complicated relationship, and it was still one of the worst things I’ve been through.

Enjoy today. Enjoy all the time you have and enjoy it rather than fearing for tomorrow.
I lost my dad 28 years ago when I was 25. It was exactly one week before Christmas and he just simply didn't wake up on Sunday morning. He was sixty-three, and he was my best friend, and my idol. It was pretty crappy for my brother as well, since dad passed away the day after my brother's 21st birthday.
It's a part of life that almost all of us will have to deal with. The only way to avoid it is to wink out before your parents do, and that's a selfish thing to want.
We still have Mom. She's 82 and not nearly as strong as she used to be. I hope to have her around for many more years.
Prayers from our home on behalf of you and your dad. I hope you have a good many more years enjoying his wisdom, insight, and company.

Lost both my parents at 8, if I’m honest with myself not sure I ever really recovered

I was 12... Dad died of a massive heart attack in 1971...
knowing what I know now at 63 years of age I am grateful he did not suffer.

34. He had struggled with multiple health issues his entire life, but especially the last 20 years. I still think about him every day.

I had just turned 35. It still suck 12 years later. It gives me peace that he was my best friend for 35 years.

I was 34. He was 61. Honestly? No impact on my life other than brief shock at his unexpected and untimely death. He had little to no impact on me in a positive way. Sad but true.

Man that's rough. I'm sorry about that for you. Both of mine are still alive at 44 so I can't empathize but I did have friends whose parents passed pretty young.

Who knows and I didn't care, he was no part of my life. Fug him.
