a lovely weekend in New Orleans

found a nice Airbnb at 6th and magazine, with a private steam spa and whirlpool, checked in around 430. Bulldog for beers on the patio and then dinner and a nice bottle of wine at crepe nanou which we’d not been to in many years.
to the saenger for tedeschi trucks, killer show in my favorite theatre. Back to the rental for a soak and a shower.
coffee at French truck, breakfast at surrey’s.
drove around for inspiration, we stopped at piece of meat and got some sausages, charcuterie and mustards. Angelo brocatos for pastries and treats. Dorignacs for olive oil, wine, bread and cheese. Finally, picked up poboys at R&Os and hit 55 back to Hammond
love NOLA and it will love you back

What was your wait like? Saw about 10 people waiting at the one in the LGD last week. I don't dislike Surrey's, but I can't see waiting for it.

1st choice was Molly’s but the line there was insane. Surreys is fine as a backup choice, I really like their juices and lox/bagels. But no I wouldn’t wait in line to eat there

There is a place nearer French Truck, Birdy's, that has a nice area and brunch type menu. Don't think it has much of a wait.
Places like Red Dog (RIP?) and Bearcat were great before the waits killed the experience.

I do wish more people would do New Orleans in this way.

I lived there a long time...84- 95 and then worked there tilI Katrina. loved it then, never had so much fun but that was when I was single (and broke). Now that I am neither it’s a world class city to do a dine around in, which is what we do every time we go to a new place.
except New Orleans is an hour away. I need to go enjoy it more often.

It’s my favorite city in the world. I lived there for a while, and spending a weekend eating and drinking around the city is one of my favorite things to do.
We did St James Cheese Co., Vals, Miss River, and the Peacock Room a couple weeks back.

New Orleans is wonderful and it sounds like your experience was as well.

Sounds fun though I thought you were headed to Mexico?

If you didn’t get shot in NOLA, your chances are going up. H town is the most dangerous city per capita in the state. Some good food downtown though, be safe baw.

NOLA may be the GOAT destination for a long weekend, but goodness is it a difficult city to live in long term.

That’s sounds like one hell of a trip! Envious here!

Hard to believe. Lived here for most of my 50 years except for a 5 year hiatus out of state.
Up until the last 10 years or so, crime has been relatively low.
Hammond still has that small town feel but its definitely changing fast.
