Hmm idk about that, college guys can go right into the NBA and NFL and immediately have success and play well with seasoned players.

Baseball players rarely go to the show right away because the game is so much tougher at the highest level. The amount of skill that big league pitchers and hitters have is truly insane.

Correct.

Even your top college picks typically take a few years to make the majors.

If you play the best college football team vs the worst NFL team, the NFL team would literally never lose.

If you play the best college basketball team vs the worst NBA team, the NBA team would never lose.

You can't say the same for the best college baseball team vs the worst MLB team, even if you take out the aluminum bat. They would easily have a better chance of winning compared to the other 2.

Fair enough, I was thinking you were just meaning transition from college to the professional ranks for the top level players.

Agreed on your point then.

i mean largely due to the nature of the sports themselves. there is a bigger gap between CBB players and MLB players on an individual level than any other sport. it literally takes years for very high draft picks just to sniff the major leagues

Yeah that's more what I was thinking.

NFL on borrowed time.
So is MLB.
CFB is dying because of NIL
NBA is dead.

We won't have any sports in a few years. People are a bunch of drama queens on here.

Every time the White Sox actually have a good squad a lockout ruins everything ??. 94 strike and now this.

Ironically enough our cheap frick owner Reinsdorf is one of the keys cogs always behind these

I’m biased as a huge baseball fan, but I think this is kind of a catch-22 in the popularity of college baseball.

Possibly. But look at the on campus attendance.
In 2018 only 8 teams averaged more than 5000 fans. 6 of those 8 were in the SEC. TX and Nebraska were the other 2.
Until you get to the 17th ranked (AZ), there are no teams outside the south.

The point is that even the fan bases are not that interested.

I don't know. You know it's bad when the best commissioner out if Goodell, Manfred, Silver, and Bettman is Gary Bettman. NHL is doing pretty well right now with great expansions franchises, some great young superstars, and back on ESPN

Yeah even in the SEC only 4 baseball programs actually make money.

This thread is beyond stupid. The only sports league that profits more than MLB is the NFL. Baseball isn’t going anywhere.

Loved baseball, huge baseball fan, but damn that Mookie Betts trade just killed me. I barely creeped back in with the Sox this year.

I could see that. I mean, the goal is to draft and develop your guys into superstars. If Boston can't keep their own stars, something is wrong.

I'll always cheer for LSU... but college baseball in general just isn't a good product. Watching it compared to MLB is like watching the WNBA compared to the NBA.

Football is really the only of the 4 major American team sports where the college version puts out an objectively respectable product. The nature of the sport allows for this whereas it doesn’t in basketball, hockey or baseball.

College basketball is exciting because of the tournament, but the actual skill and product on display is in general poor. College baseball and college hockey are almost unwatchable compared to the professional ranks.

Didn’t even know that. Have hardly paid attention since the strike.

Watch the LSU guys of course.
