Has he stopped smoking or did they decide just to not show him smoking on the show?

Has he stopped smoking

Apparently he quit in 2017-ish after a bout of pneumonia.
quote:

"I stopped smoking years ago. I used to think I’d put out my last cigarette age 107, and just die."

"When my dad died at 61, I thought ‘That’s a pretty good innings.’ Now I’m 61 — if I died, I’d be furious. I think about dying every day."

Jeremy has given himself some hope by reading the The Times’ obituaries section regularly, which has shown him that most of the people who are passing away are around 15 years older than he is now.

He commented: "This means I have 15 years left, and that's plenty."

"In short, getting on for three-quarters of a million figs have not harmed me in any way. I have quite literally defied medical science."

I thought all the folks in this thread were trolling, couldn't imagine that the Top Gear guy running a farm could be entertaining.... boy was I wrong. Watched the first two episodes last night and I was loving it, thanks for the recommendation M/TV folks

For a thousand acre farm this tractor doesn't seem too big.

Some of the implements he pulls behind it are comically small. His cultivator is barely as wide.

Forgot it was wider than the tractor.

I probably would've used the word "infuriating." The whole badger thing, for example, is outrageous.

Just playing devil's advocate though, I could totally understand where some in the community wouldn't like a media personality coming in causing traffic, blowing up buildings, and permanently altering the landscape for a television show.

I'm rooting for Clarkson from an entertainment (and an economic impact) perspective of course, but if I were one of the 1,000 or so people who actually lived there, I don't know if I'd be as enthusiastic.

So can I build a car park?

You want money, you gotta enable people to make money. The UK and most of the EU absolutely sucks at understanding the second half of that statement.

The whole bit about pleading a case to a bunch of jackass councilmen and ruining an "area of natural beauty" hit me in my soul.

Family fought a similar thing years ago trying to open a small business, got shut down because it would ruin the "rural atmosphere" of the area. The whole fricking place was a giant subdivision 5 years later. I feel ya Jeremy.

The council shutting him down even though his shop would benefit all the local farmers, and not just Jeremy, pissed me off more than anything.

If you think people who have lots of power are assholes you’ve never met someone with only a small amount of power. They’ll flex it any chance they get

The area has plenty of money.

It's retired folks and rich ex-Londoners who want a home in the country.

I'm quite sure the council had already made up their mind at that point, but I wish he had taken all of the farmers from that roundtable to an actual meeting to plead their case before the vote.

Speaking of, I lol'd when he told the barrister that he should learn to spell.

After the episode, dude comes out as "dyslexic."
