I pay almost $700/month now for an individual plan

health cost sharing plans will be cheaper than health insurance.

I must have been looking at shitty plans or cheap plans (maybe both), or did something wrong, because when I looked on the Healthcare marketplace, for a family of 4 I could find several plans that wouldn't cost me more than $100/month.

Yep I paid the same for family of 4 18k. And this year my premiums went up $200 per month
Posted on 1/5/22 at 1:39 pm to sodcutterjones
You guys are making me feel good about my $60/mo premium for a family and $500 annual deductible!

That defeats the whole purpose... We are at war, this is currently the best way to stand up to tyranny...faking it doesn't accomplish anything...

why not go without and do a "cash payer" and hope to not be in a major accident.
Thats a good way to go bankrupt.

I agree, this is the hill to die on. However, in the hope that this thread doesn't turn into a political topic, lets stay on track.
Dave Ramsey is big on HSA's, anybody have experience with that?

Jesus Christ. At this point just go get the fricking shot

Coworker of a friend knows a doctor very much against the mandates. He will give you the shot (hand it to you with the tip still on needle) and your proof of vaccination. Technically, he gave you the shot.

I would not quit a federal job. You don't have to perform any tasks, get constant raises, and a great retirement at 45 years old.
Signed, taxpayers.

Wrong.

What’s wrong about it?

The insinuation that all government employees are lazy and that you can retire at 45,for starters.
And lol at the "Taxpayer" By line, as if government employees don't pay taxes.

Most are grunts who aren’t skillful enough to make it in the private sector. Let’s not kid ourselves.

What federal job doesn’t allow you to retire with a pension after 20 years?

Taxpayer money getting taxed twice. Call it taxception

Family of 5 here but for a $7100 deductible, quoted at 2450 a month. If I dropped to a $17,100 deductible, I'd be in at $1250 or $1450 (can't recall off top of my head) a month.
7100+(2450*12) = 36500 per year plus other out of pocket costs
What the frick is insurance paying for if you get sick? You would have to get really sick before insurance would pick up the tab.
You would be better off dropping that coin in a Savings Account at 0% interest and pay for health care out of pocket. Ask for upfront Cash pricing.
After about 6 years you would have saved up over 200k.

Not going to argue that, but there are plenty of exceptions. There's quite a few people I work with that could do just fine in the private sector. I've contemplated going back to private a few times, especially lately, and had a few offers. But it's hard to beat the benefits (why this thread is even a thing), and if I wanted to, I could put in half the effort I did in the private sector and still outperform most of my colleagues.

Uh, damn near every one now. It's 30 years service and 57 years old for most people under the new retirement system. The only way you can retire with 20 years of federal service and get your full retirement benefit is if you are 50 and a reduction in force or other action occurs, or if you are 60 years old.

Call it what you want. We still pay taxes.

Have you held a position requiring a real security clearance? Forgery of a fed record would carry real and long lasting consequences. The end result would far worse than just being terminated.
