There was a thread on here then the driver was originally sentenced. Many of the posters thought 110 years was overkill for the specific charge. Well, apparently, the Colorado governor stepped in and commuted it.

Good. That's more in line with what he deserves.

Good.

But I'm not convinced the DA would have asked the judge to lower the sentence if not for the public reaction. How about....just do the right thing to start with?

Yes that is more reasonable. He had liability because he passed the off ramps, but 110 years was shat stupid.

That punishment fits the crime. I’m glad some common sense finally won.

DA asked for 20-30yrs. Gov caved to the pressure and overcorrected.

Didn't some people die because of this? 10 years seems very short for that.

Good. 110 years was excessive, especially since the same state was letting out rioters and looters with slap on the wrist

4 people. So 2.5 years per death... and nothing for all the other damage he inflicted

Yeah, that is outrageous for the families. I mean, wasn't he at fault and negligent every step of the way?

Wonder if this will change his immigration status.

We handle rioters and looters so politically in this country.

10 years in a state prison is pretty rough. nothing can really make up for the losses.

If it were my family, I would think 10 years is 10 minutes and be outraged as a result. I'd be on the governors doorstep every day.

Yes... Lakewood is out of the mountains you encounter going down towards Morrison, approaching lakewood/denver. Gross incompetence. 15-20 would've been more reasonable... especially when you can get 1/3 of your sentence knocked off in gain time.

Seems like an overcorrection. The guy was incredibly grossly negligent.

I hope your breaks never go out. Because we will all say, well you deserve 110 years.

A 30 year sentence effectively ends his life. He likely wouldn't get out of prison at 56 and be a contributing member of society. It destroys his family in the process.

10 doesn't feel like enough either though. The prison sentence messes with his life, but probably doesn't change his trajectory all that much.
