What is your favorite/most head clearing hobby of yours?

Besides 95% of the OT who only bang 10s all day and make billions of dollars to invest in their F-250, what are some hobbies you took up in order to either pass time or learn something new? I’ve been consistently going to the gym 6 days a week now for 5 months (hit my first 300 pound deadlift the other day shite felt pretty cool for a kid who grew up chubby), but just looking for either new skills to learn or something else in order to zone out from the world. Thanks O-T for a great year of memes, bitching about Teedy, and all the laughs and quality info. happy new year to all you maws and baws, y’all are great (besides Oweo but ehh)

Sadly I quit drinking about 3 months ago. So now I just decide to hit a cart and scroll TD

Backpacking. Everything from DIY to organizing and collecting new gear to actually being on trail is enjoyable to me.
Really just being in the woods under my tarp and in my hammock is heaven on earth. It doesn’t really matter how I get there, but my preference is to hike my way in.

Fly Fishing... Has a lot of different aspects to enjoy. There are no ugly places to fly fish. The pursuit has brought me to some beautiful and scenic locales.

Not really a hobby but I do some of my best thinking while I mow grass. I actually enjoy mowing since it keeps me outside and when I’m done, I have a sense of accomplishment. Seeing a fresh cut yard is very nice to look at.

Rock climbing. In all the years and countless hours I have been on a route not a single time has the world outside my immediate surrounding forced its way in.
Hand tool woodworking. While I am a hybrid woodworker and use machines more than hand tools the sound and feel of a well-tuned plane sliding across wood while watching a near-transparent shaving curl up in the throat can produce a zen-like experience. It is also one of the most satisfying parts of woodworking knowing wood takes finish so much better planed than sanded.

Even though I sling code for a living I enjoy adding to my GitHub portfolio during my spare time with some random additions:
A simple raytracer with support for reflection, and an xml scene format.
A Sudoku solver.
Procedural mesh generator with constructive solid geometry and boolean set operations.
Procedural texture generator.
Sample generators, audio signal filters, and a small music sequencer/software synthesizer.
Convenient C++ classes to represent fractions and fixedpoint numbers.
Fixed point versions of ln, log2, log10, pow and sqrt using newton-raphson and the power series.
A linear programming solver that can solve for an arbitrary number of variables and constraints.
An implementation of Ataxx and Tetris which you can make your own AI for and have AI-battles.

Breaux, I’ll be honest, I have no idea about half the words you are talking about. However, that Tetris AI sounds pretty badass I can’t lie

I like to mess around in my yard, flower beds and vegetable garden. I seem to intrinsically get some form of satisfaction watching things I plant grow. Especially the garden part from planting a seed to eating what I grow. I also enjoy watching the birds, frogs, insects, and what not sitting on my back porch while I drink a beer and relax at the end of day. Over the last decade or so it dawned on me how relaxing it is to sit on a deer stand. I enjoy watching the deer, turkeys, squirrels, fox, bobcat, and every other animal in the forest that strolls by my stand.

Fishing, working out, driving my sports car(before I traded it In), just chilling around outside taking in the nature, or even something as simple as giving the dogs a few minutes of attention.
I'm not into it yet, but hear that just shooting archery/bows is super relaxing and mellow
