And ironically Domino’s was one of the first or THE first to start charging delivery fees many years ago.

Why are you doing it with that attitude? People with that attitude are what’s wrong with the world. Do something else that doesn’t rely heavily on the generosity of others but I imagine lots of the drivers with that attitude probably still rely on the generosity of mama and daddy or other family members.

The wise thing would be for a few local restaurants, if they don't have enough volume by themselves, to get together on their own delivery service and cut out the middle man.

They could vet the drivers as well so they don't get dickheads like the dude posting in this thread.

We certainly do help our kids. But we also teach them to be independent and encourage them to learn the skills that they will need to be successful in life. Don’t project your lazy arse attitude on my kids.

Who is going to pay for the site, drivers, etc? The same thing just happens over again. I'm lucky because we get to negotiate a lower price than what most pay. At the end of the day it is access to more customers. My traffic has never dropped

I thought the apps just charged a fee on top of the meal price. Do they actually cut in to the restaurants' profits?

The OMP's are charging the restaurant between 13.5% and 40% to use the service. They also have a no price competition clause that will not allow the restaurant to offer different pricing than offered to the omop's customers.

The intent is to destroy what few locally owned, small businesses that we have left. They are hammering on the transportation and car industries pretty hard too.

If we don't do something fast, everything will be owned by international companies. Is the added convenience and cheaper prices worth it?

It’s because you get to negotiate with the platform regarding menu prices to augment the 25-30% in commissions they take off each order, because they have an Enterprise partnership with Hooters.

There's a girl locally that does food delivery on her own. Independent of the restaurants and isn't with one of the online apps.

Another issue, I shouldn't have to wait 30 minutes at your restaurant waiting for an order. Time is money.
As someone who has been on both ends of this it isn't always the restaurants fault either. Often times the restaurant won't even receive the order until minutes before (or sometimes even after) the driver shows up. Then you have drivers sitting around irritated at restaurant workers who are working as fast as they can on an order they received while you were walking in the door. The whole system is a mess.

I hate how they talk about hidden fees. The other day I was going to have pizza delivered. It was going to be $45 with out tip. I switched it to carryout and it was less than $30.

Walmart+ sucks.

The scan and go is really bad. Last time I made a scene because the door guard went through every item like I stole them because it wasn't bagged. I had the receipt. I went right to a manager and asked for a refund on my +.
I've never used delivery because it's always a 2 day or more wait.

The worst when I worked for Dominos and people assumed the delivery charge WAS the tip...

The driver doesn't get any of that fee. It all goes to the platform.

(As much as possible) I avoid any service that involves a tip.

I would prefer that the service just increase the fee by 30% and pay their people a fair wage.

I hate tipping. I always do it and I tip well every time - but I try to avoid a situation where a tip is required as much as I can.

I don't either. Anything involving a restaurant other than sit-down dining at a table they provide is subpar and frankly trashy.

Yes the delivery apps get a cut, most restaurants counter it by increasing their prices on the delivery service app and limiting the selections.

This. Of course a restaurant rather s you order straight from them but they never seem to discuss how many people wouldn’t order from them at all if it wasn’t for delivery apps. Hell some wouldn’t even know they existed without the apps.

I make about $120 in about 4 hours every day. Like I said I'm retired military. I can pick and choose. My business model is doing just fine.

I'll say it louder for those in the back: No Tip, No Trip
