So let me get this straight. Domino’s franchisees spends $100,000 on gift cards to local restaurants that deliver their own food. They turn around and spend millions of dollars telling you about the good deeds their franchisees did and want to take all the credit.

If I tip $0 or $100 my food is going to take about an hour from the time I submit to the time it hits my driveway. If it takes 2 hours or some crazy shite, I get my money back regardless. Doesn’t matter to me if they let the food sit and get cold.

You are correct. Sorry bubba, but I don’t care your daughter makes $3 on a 30 minute delivery. Tell her father to help her with money since she can’t have a regular job

The other side of this is that you drivers don't see is that tipping well is no guarantee you're going to get your food hot and fast either. I tip very well at restaurants, but traditionally you tip someone when you get good service, on these apps you tip first so it's really not a tip, it's a bounty. People say delivery is a luxury, well, it fricking sucks when you actually pay tip well and pay those luxury prices and get cold shitty food anyway, which is often. So I give up using delivery apps unless I'm desperate and can't drive for whatever reason and I'm willing to eat cold shite.

We're talking about a society that has people shop for their weekly groceries, order all their junk from Amazon. As long as we have people with expendable cash, Food delivery services will be around

I think its a brilliant marketing strategy for them to give coupons for local pizza businesses. By encouraging people to eat local they are encouraging people that isn't or can't eat dominoes to at least not go to one of their major competitors.

I don’t tip any of the delivery app drivers. Their up charge from DoorDash, Waitr, Uber Eats is their issue not mine. Don’t like it don’t deliver for them.

I hope you do it often enough that you stick out to the majority of drivers and they decline the request and de facto boycott you.

Why so much anger?

It's not a tip, it's a bounty. It's not like short-changing a waitress after she spent an hour refilling the drinks diligently for someone's dinner party. You don't have to take the order and you know the bounty amount up front, so no one's getting shorted. Settle down.

But is it accurate? I thought the apps just charged a fee on top of the meal price. Do they actually cut in to the restaurants' profits?

Every time I see a that commercial I think, well don't work with the delivery apps if it's not good for your company.

Like I said, I’ll never use Waitr again. To your point: it is a luxury. And as with most luxuries, it stops being worthwhile when the service goes to shite.

I just think a good portion of the food delivery industry has talked itself into some pretty backwards priorities. I mean sure - you can choose not to take an order if you don’t like the tip. Cool. But I can’t change the tip if my food shows up cold anyway. At that point my only recourse as a customer is to either leave a poor rating for the order or stop using the service. Which is fine, it’s just absurd compared to the rest of the service industry. If you go to a steakhouse, they don’t decide when to bring your food to the table based on how much you told them you were going to tip.

When it’s structured that way, it’s not really reasonable to even call it a “tip” anymore.

But again - I’m confident the companies with backwards priorities will eventually be surpassed by those with the right mindset. There’s enough competition in that sector that most people have options now.

All of the drivers in this thread have made it abundantly clear that if I don't tip well up front they'll purposely give me a shitty service and possibly spit in my food.

Apps may take a cut but they also bring in a ton of buisness. There's a bunch of resturants that we order take out from, and never eat at. It's obviously still worth it to resturants or they wouldn't participate. Doubt dominos even bought that many competitors coupons....annoying commercial is annoying
